No but you can go to prison, then how you gonna pay your rent?

paj21
No, but they can (and will) take you to court, send in the baliffs, etc, etc

ebungle
No,

Rent is one issue and Council tax is another, however you will be taken to court to reclaim outstanding balances.

Don't think so but you can be summoned and sent to prison, and still have to pay the money.....

kate d
your rent is between you and your landlord.
Council Tax the council can take you to court, send in bailiff's, they will make your life hell.

spook542
No.

First of all they'll ask you to pay the arrears. If that doesn't ahppen to their satisfaction those nice men with the van will come to take your stuff away. If that is not good enough for them, they can send you to prison..

You'd be better off finding an old man and punching him and then you'll be given a community supervision order at which point you'll be entitled to all sorts of help.

Initially you can't be evicted for not paying council tax.

They can get a summons to re-posses your stuff, and/or take you to court.

Also if your letting agency or landlord gets wind of it, you probably won't be offered a renewal.

There are little loopholes to council tax, single person discount, second home, student shareres, and if the house is "Empty and Unoccupied" then you don't have to pay.

Well, in yur contract, you are obliged to pay all utility bills including council tax.

If you fall behind though, the fine and possible court senetnce could be severe and in some cases land you in prison.

If you can';t afford to keep up payments, you will ahve to curb your spending and more to a more affordable place when your contract is up.

no it would have to go to court and then you can make arrangements to try and pay something!! they wouldn't evict you if you try and pay!! get in touch with them and offer then what you can afford.....hope this helps

Blink
You can't get evicted. You could get fined and if you don't pay the fines, you could get sent to prison for non-payment. A court could also send round some baliffs to seize your posessions. The best thing to do is to call the council, explain that you're having problems in paying and ask if there's anything that they can do to spread the payments out.

You can only be evicted for rent arrears....anti social behavious....criminal damage...and criminal activities

shih tzu lady
The rent is between you and your landlord.
The council tax is between you and the local council authority.
You cannot be evicted from your home because of non payment of council tax but the council will chase you for it. If you move home the debt goes with you to your new address and you will still have to pay up. Arrange with the council to pay a nominal amount off each month in order to show you are making the effort to clear the arrears.
