Too late now! Wait a few years for the real estate cycle to complete itself. Otherwise you will be spinning you wheels compeating against very experienced professional people in a flat or down market. Residential or Commerical.

Try the refinancing or mortgage market. It will be on the upswing soon.

I would try working in a real estate company as a secretary or assistant first and see if you like it. A lot of times they will pay for the schooling for you to get your license as long as you make a committment to them.

Right now? I wouldn't recommend it to anyone of any age right now. Even the veterans are struggling right now and everyone I know is "down" in numbers for the year.

It will take a couple of years, but the market will probably start to recover after the next Presidential election...traditionally, anytime there is a potential change of power the economy stalls a bit because of the uncertainty...this starts about a year before the election and it starts to show improvement about 4 months post-election.

People just need to brace themselves for a ride for the next year, b/c with gas prices going back up right before Christmas and 4th quarter mortgages set to readjust, which will lead to more foreclosures, it's going to be a bumpy ride.

Yeah if you have confidence in your ability to sell ... go for it.

Yes, If you can afford to not make any money for a year you should definatley get your license now. There are real estate agents dropping like flies. Find a good mentor - an agent who is doing well even in this market and see if you can work for them as an assistant of some sort while you are getting your license. Even if they pay you nothing the experience you will gain is an investment in yourself.

justhere
yes, it's a good time to get a license now. housing market will eventually pick up again.
