In Texas, is land lord responsible for providing window units in home with no central air conditioning?
I am renting a house in Texas that does not have central air conditioning....is there some kind of 'tenant law' that says my land lord is supposed to provide the window units? Where can I go to find proof or back-up of this?
Only appliances included are what are listed on the lease; and some don't even permit window units.
Check with zoning locally for some imput.

Some communities provide assistance with utility bills and with fans in the home.
If you are paying the utility bills, adding an a/c will hike your bills. Consider purchasing a window unit of your own.
Sorry, a/c is still a luxury, the rest of the world doesn't have home a/c units.

Look at your lease or rental agreement. Just like if you were asking, "who is supposed to mow the lawn?" Some agreements state that the tenant does, some that the landlord does. It's the same with other furnishings. Some places require you to supply your own appliances/furniture and some don't. Look at the contract you signed with the landlord, and there's your answer. Those things aren't dictated by state law.

No, it's not "law".
Buy one yourself and ask your landlord to install it for you, you wouldnt want to wreck anything if you did it yourself.

No. You will need to supply your own. Fortunately, they have gotten less expensive over the years.

I don't know of any law that requires them to provide this. It would have stated it in your lease if you did. Have you asked him if he can supply you with one? If not then it falls on you to get one.

I seriously doubt if that is a requirement unless they were in there when you rented the property and are now broken. Look at your lease and see if it says anything. I can see why you want them - its heating up around here!
bigpuppax
No way.
DennistheMenace
nope....and you better ask before installing your own.......
