In this day in age, is better to rent or to buy a house?
Peoples opinions are really going to differ with this question.

It's always better to buy, if you find a good deal of course. My rent is 100% more than what a mortgage would be in a nice neighborhood in my area. As of now I'm spending more and living in a crappy neighborhood (crack house across the street).

I still believe buying is the best opinion if you are going to live there for at least 4 to 5 years. As a Buyer's Agent, I tell my clients that they must consider how much they can afford, what type of home they are looking for, and as well as where do they want to live.

Yes, the market has slowed, but instead of paying for someone else's investment, why not buy your own asset.

Renting is find for short-term stays, but no matter what the housing market is doing, it's always better to have somewhere you can call home.

well i always say buying is the best because you are throwing money away with rent but unfortunately the market sucks right now and homes are waaaay too expensive... if you can get buy a home for equal or close to amount you would paying rent then yes buying is the best option...if buying a home is more then renting an apartment the no dont buy... i also found some great home buying information, has everything you would need to buy a home, even mortgage calculators so you can see the amount you can afford.. hope it helps

Most landlords rent out their investment properties at a monthly rate based near their PITI (principal, interest, taxes and insurance) plus 10 to 25 % profit.

So generally speaking, if you plan to live in this home for five or more years, you are better off buying. You should be able to reap the benefit of property value appreciation and that should offset the costs of maintenance and repairs that come with home ownership.

If plan to live in this home for three or less years, you might want to consider renting. In three years your home's value won't appreciate enough to offset the "costs" of buying. i.e. realtor's commission, doc fees, loan points, attorney fees, etc.

Its subjective. I'll choose to rent then to buy given the reason that these days its not difficult to find jobs worldwide. Besides the property market is very violatile.

I have always been biased towards buying. Real estate always pays back big time if you play your cards right.

It's better to buy because you will get your money back in some other way when you sell your home either from equity you have put into the loan, tax credits or improved credit scores from paying on time. Look closely at your loan options. If you're only going to be in the home a year or two, you probably want a different type of loan than a 30 year fixed (like an interest only or an option arm). Be creative, you can always refinance or sell.

i believe that its always better to buy a house because you can pay rent for a million years and it would never be yours .if the land lord up and decides to sale the property one day, you'll just be out and there's nothing you can do about it
