Is 45k a good salary for a 22/yo male living in Tucson?
I'm going to be moving to Tucson in 6 weeks, and I was just wondering if 45,000 dollars a year gross is a good salary for the city/geographic area. Any thoughts?
Additional Details
Also, the apartment I found is in a very nice area, for $750 a month. It's a 1 bedroom with a nice living room area, dining room area, and in total 906 sq. ft.

It's enough to cover everything you need, and some of what you want.

Just stay out of credit card debt, car loan debt, and student loan debt, and you'll be in great shape.

Think yourself very blessed. Here in Detroit an Auto plants union workers just had to settle for a pay cut from 28/hr to 18/hr or 58.24K down to 37.44K. But an awful lot of people around here make minimum wage if they even have a job. I'm sure that's true in Tucson too.

I have a girl friend there and she can't find a decent salary anywhere and she's 31 with a degree so I'd so.

Any salary can be good. No salary can be perfect.

Learn to make a budget. Learn the habit of saving your money in a 401K, IRA, or other qualified tax-deferred savings plan. On that salary, a single male can live decently.

Be sure to watch your budget. Because if you are careless, that is when you find out how LITTLE $45K can be.

It will support you, however you will have to live on a budget. At least if it is anything like Las Vegas(lived there 7 years).

I'm in Tennessee and doing wonderfuly as a stay at home mom with my husband making 32,000/yr. We stick to a budget, and save anything after our mtg and car payment, and other bills. It is extremely affordable to live here though. Rent is 400/mo on average, 600/mo for nice homes on average.

EDIT* Stinky...that is halarious! lmao.....yea won't be long it should hit 5 a gallon before the end of the year where I am. LOL....so funny!

Are you comfortable? If so then yes. Don't be so materialistic. If you live a good life you live a good life. Don't worry about how much you make.

Ahh_Sweet_Boredom
Its pretty decent. More than a lot of kids in that area make anyways.

I looked up Tucson using a cost of living calculator and here's what I found: http://www.payscale.com/cost-of-living-calculator/Arizona-Tucson/- The overall cost of living there is equal to the national average, which means that it's a relatively inexpensive place to live. Your salary should be adequate for that cost of living, but it really depends on your lifestyle and personal expenses (credit card debt, loans, car payments, etc.) If you're wondering whether your salary is fair for that area, you can look up your job title with this calculator to see what the median salary range is for that job in Tucson. Or, for more accurate salary data on your specific position - taking factors such as experience and employment setting into consideration - you can take PayScale's free salary survey. http://www.payscale.com/?src=yahooA

Hope that helps,
