Beth | Is $750 too much for this apartment? |
It is a town home (up and down stairs) with a 2 car garage, washer and dryer, 2 bedrooms 1.5 baths, 2 walk-in closets, pantry in the kitchen, his and her sinks in the upstairs bathroom. I know that is a lot of extras, but is it worth it to pay that much for an apartment with whom you are not familiar with the staff of the property management? I mean they could be real ***** and if I am paying that much for an apartment, I want to be able to enjoy myself while I am there. |

I think that 750 is reasonable for everything the apartment has to offer. But the price should also depend on the area. Your best bet is to look around and compare that apartment to other apartments in that area .That way you can really see if your getting a good deal! |

That is a GREAT deal, at least by Houston standards. You should talk to the property mgmt to see how they deal with maintenance or other renting issues. If you don't want it, let me know - I will take it! LOL |

i don't know what part of the country you are in, but that sounds like a good deal to me. staff doesn't really matter--there's a lease and both sides have to abide by it. if the staff starts ticking you off then just report them to the corporate office |

$750.00 around here is a steal. But depending on where you live it may not be such a great deal.
Most places you may move you are not familiar with the staff. Remember staff can change even after you move in. |

It depends on where it is. To me it sounds like a steal! |

Sounds pretty reasonable to me what State do you live in and is the town a college town. They always mark prices up if it is because they know the can and still find tenants |

Where do you live? In Massachusetts, especially the Boston Metro area, you couldn't get a 400 square foot studio or one bedroom for that much!
What you need to look at is your rent to income ratio. Does this apartment include utilities? If not, it's a good guess that 20-25% of your income should go towards the rent. If you can't afford that apartment, you won't enjoy yourself, no matter how nice it is because you will be stressed out with paying the bills and how you will afford them.
As for the property management company, look online for reviews at http://www.apartmentratings.com/ or just do a general search. I work for a good property management company that the residents feel comfortable knowing things will be taken care of, but do your research, because some are not that good.
Good Luck |

Even in Columbus Ohio in the so called 'ghetto', that is a steal. Where is this place? |

Where do you live? This question can't be accurately answered without that information. Here in Calfornia, that house is a dream come true for as low as $750. Here, a $750 rental would include a one bedroom, one bathroom studio or shack with no yard and no garage. Best Wishes! |

Where is this place? If it's anywhere near me I'm moving in. :)
Don't worry about being familiar with property staff. Odds are the people in the office now won't be the same ones there when your lease is up. |

What would make them *****? To make you keep the noise down? Keep the place clean? I hope the landlord got 1500 bucks deposit from you, because it sounds to me that ur gonna be alot of trouble. |

Okay, the last time I rented I paid $460/mo. I had no garage, no washer/dryer, 1BA, 1BR, 1 closet (non-walk in), kitchen and living room. Seems like a deal to me. |

I think that is a good deal! |

Location Location Location.
It sounds pretty good to me. I'd be happy to pay that in my town. A comparable place here would be about $1200. In Podunk, IL, it might be too much.
Find out what comparable places go for...and maybe talk to some current tenants to see how the landlord handles his buildings. |

Depends on where you life. In NY, $750 won't get you a garage space. Other markets, that might be a good price. |

Depends on where you live. In NY, NJ and DE you can't even get a decent 1brm Apt for that price. |

Depends on where it is and the 'hood it is in.
$750 a month in some economically blasted coal mining town in West Virginia is likely to be a rip off. The same amount for an apartment as you describe in Manhattan would be the deal of the century.
But why rent at all? If you can afford to cough up $750 a month for a bloody apartment you can probably afford to OWN your own bloody house! Let's examine a little cold hard logic founded in reality. After 30 years of paying $750 a month [as if the rent'll stay the same that long] what do you have to show for it? NOTHING and you have to put up with bloody neighbors and tyrannical landlords with their rules "No smoking, no pot, no drugs, no alcohol, no pets, no sex, no parties after 6PM [like who has parties BEFORE 6 PM]" But after 30 years of putting the same money on a house which is all the while appreciating and the amount paid per month DOES NOT CHANGE, guess what, you've got you a fine QUARTER MILLION$ or more house which you now OWN outright and have something REAL that you can use in emergencies, get mortgages on or give upon your demise to your ingrate relatives. That's why they call it REAL estate.
And best of all, you can smoke your stinky cigars, or have ten smelly dogs and party till you puke EVERY NIGHT! You live by YOUR rules for a change.
Unless you happen to have a job that requires a lot of travel and relocation, renting makes no sense. And what? I can hear an objection "I don't like doing yard work!" So you are throwing away $250,000 or more in equity because you are too lazy to mow a lawn or rake a few leaves? I bet your landlord who's laughing all the way to the bank isn't too lazy. Besides with all that money, he just hires somebody to do it for him and SO COULD YOU with the money you'd save on your own HOME! |
