Calculus actually is the basis for most of the higher sciences and engineering.
Algebra and Trigonometry are both used in Calculus. |

They shouldn't even let you take Calculus unless you've already had College Algebra. It should be a prereq. If you haven't taken intermediate and college algebra you won't make it through Calculus. Take them in the right order. |

But Algebra course are only usually offered at Community Colleges, as a requirement before taking Calculus.
One must usually have completed Algebra, Algebra 2, and Trigonometry before being allowed to take Calculus, since Calculus involves all three. |
