Is a 6.3% interest rate on a home a good deal?
I was just approved for a loan of 6.3% 30 year fix loan. Is this good or should I wait until I can get a lower rate

HIGH SHAMAN
Yes; that sounds like a really good rate ......

I'm still holding out for a 5.75 or better myself, so i can re-fi ... think it will be her soon , or so I hope !!

Yes it's good... Mine is 5.375 and I closed in August (my buyer offered a buydown)

In this economy--I'd say it's good..

I think you should lock now. 6.3% on a 30 yr fix is a good rate. If you wait longer the rate might go up to 7%...just lock now and refinance later on.....

Libby
Yes...7% really is normally a "good deal".

Nowadays, 6.5% is excellent and 6% better and lower is even better.

You really did get a really great deal!!!

This is a good rate. If you choose to hold out for a lower rate you may end up with a higher one too. Plus, you run the risk of not getting the loan at all. If you can afford the payments take the loan now.

Yes that is a good loan. For really excellent credit it usually is anywhere from five to seven percent. And for a fixed rate it is good.

globular
You did great. IF It goes A LOT lower which it NEVER has.. But if it goes a whole percent lower then you can always refinance.

Good job! And congratulations the prices on the homes have fallen lower. Good GOOD time to buy.

face vale 6.3% sounds good but there are couple thing to consider. 6.3% is not a conforming rate. conforming rates are in 1/8 percent increments. so you need to find out exactly what kind of loan you are getting and are you paying points to get that rate, if so it's not a very good rate for a 80% loan...

funnyhaha
I checked interest rates today and I could have got 6% for a 15 year.
