I signed a lease 6 months ago on April 30th.. ok.. So my landord made me sign in my married name, even though I wasn't married yet. I got married on May 16th... Does this technically make the lease invalid? Please help I want to move the rent is sooo high, and it sucks here. Thanks for the help..

No she made me sign my name that way because she knew I was getting married. I tried to sign it with my maiden name and she told me no. She also said it was ok to have a cat at the time and i would not have to pay and now she is saying i have to pay. I hate her. |

If this was not your correct name, then it may be something to look into. Ask a lawyer. You may have a loophole. ;) |

So you willfully signed a name to a legal document that was not your legal name.
Sounds like fraud to me. It might make the lease invalid and the landlord might turn around and sue you for fraud. Best of luck.

I don't think so. He didn't type it wrong, YOU signed it wrong. How long is the lease for? Maybe you could work something out where you could give him 30 days notice and he'd let you break it? |

That was a mistake, but an understandable one. Suppose the wedding hadn't gone through, then what would have happened? However it does not invalidate the lease. Certainly it is your legal name now, I presume.
You may have better luck getting out because of the cat. Do you have anything in your lease that allows you to have a cat and not pay extra for it? If you do then she cannot just change the terms so I would fight her on that one. |
