SCUZE-ME | Is bigger always better? |
When it comes to houses?
I see so many people bragging about the size of their house but quite frankly I prefer a smaller house; 1-2 bedrooms, 1 level, but with all the amenities. Understandably when you have a large family you need a large house but I've some damn big houses owned by very small families, couples, even individuals. Additional Details Jenny, I agree...and more to heat and cool as well.
It's just the two of us now. I've had the big house and big yard but now I prefert the coziness and easy to keep up small house. I'm 40 btw. |

Not at all. There's even a recent trend toward smaller homes and living in smaller spaces. They're easier to clean, as Jenny mentioned, cheaper to heat and maintain, and offer a more intimate environment.
Given a choice between a large McMansion type home and a smaller, well-crafted home for the same price, I'd choose the smaller one every time. But then, I don't have any need to show off, which is what big homes are mostly for (unless you have a huge family). |

It doesn't matter what size. As long as it is comfortable and feels like home to you. |

To answer your question: No.
But, something tells me that you aready knew it! One can say that the notion of "bigger is better" is a matter of perspective and opinion, it comes back to what YOU think!
Good luck. |

I never want a huge house...too much to clean...LOL. |

there is more to size like location and amenities, lot size, etc... But 1-2 bedrooms is pretty small unless you live alone. |

Bigger is not always better that only goes off of preference (to each it's own)! A lot of times when people brag they are trying to make up for where they lack in life or maybe in need for some attention! Trust me them big house cost big dollars and hopefully they can afford it without going to the poor house! |

My husband and I lived in a 650 sq ft apartment for 3.5 years, before buying a house with1,800 sq ft of living space last fall. On the whole I love my house, but I am still working to get used to 3x as much cleaning, especially the part of going from one bathroom to three! If not for the fact we plan to expand our family in the next few years, I think I might have liked something smaller. |

Scuze-me,
If you're looking for home today that could be a future investment, go with bigger if you can afford it. Price/livable sqft usually starts to drop as the home gets bigger or simply put, you usually get more home for less as you go up. I have a ton of clients that spend an extra $5-10K their first year in the home just to furnish it and make it look cozy and lived in. Also, paint will cost more, a bigger yard will cost more to maintain, etc... However, if you have a hobby like music or art or if you want a pool table or home gym, it's always nice to have that extra room. My reco is, if you can afford it, why not? Either way, I wish you the best. |

We just bought a house and it is small only 1270sqft and I love it, it is 3 bedrooms and one and 1/2 baths. I would not want any thing bigger because my family is close to every one, like the toy room is next to the front room and my sons share a room (2 and 1) and my husband and I stay in the room next to them. So I think smaller is better because the family stays closer. |
