*Fickle Pickle*
Is it POSSIBLE for my house to be TOO clean for potential home buyers?
So we JUST put our house on the market (yesterday afternoon). And today we got our 1st viewer. I am a VERY clean person. Pantry items are faced forward so labels are visible, shoes are nicely paired, beds made religiously. Everything is in PLACE. And I have been told several times that I really know how to decorate. Thing is, after the viewing today, the realtor said that the viewer REALLY REALLY liked my house, but is looking for a 3 bedroom rather than a 2 (as mine is a 2). Then she said that it looked too perfect, almost like it was staged to look that good!!! SO, what should I do? Take it as a compliment? Mess a few things up? I just didn’t know there was such thing as too clean & a house looking too perfect. So I wash, dry, & put up my dishes after every use – Is that a crime? : ) LOL!!!
Additional Details
Sorry -- Just to clarify:
The realtor saying my house looked to neat & staged was from another agency. MY realtor was just passing the message on to me of what the other one said about my home. :>)

No, your house cannot be too clean and organized. It is a compliment, it could be alot worse.

This was one viewing, don't start trashing your place now.

If you'd like to come organize my house, I'd be interested. ;-)

Continue what you're doing and ignore that realtor. I can't imagine a house looking "too perfect" when it comes to showing a potential buyer. Our last realtor didn't even want the coffee maker or toaster left on the cabinet, so I can't imagine yours thinking it looked "staged". Sounds like you got yourself a strange one.........

Take it as a compliment, as a Realtor I WISH every client were like you. Good luck selling.

There is NO such thing as too clean.

Good job!

I hope your realtor was kidding with you. You sound like a dream client to me! I have had to keep after too many of my clients to keep their homes neat!

people selling their house pay BIG money to have it staged purposely.

your agent should know that. they're generally BEGGING people to clean. The person wasn't interested because they wanted a 3 bedroom not a two.

Judy1
Sounds like their main issue was being a bedroom short. I'd ignore the other comment unless someone else says the same thing, then I'd ask for clarification.

Perfectionist
take it as a compliment

Hire a new realtor.

of course you take it as a compliment, I flip houses and you would not be live how people keep their homes and they think they are clean

Your house can't be too clean. New model homes are always staged to look incredible to the prospective buyer. They stage these homes so when people look at them they think...WOW, I want to live in a place like this....not so they think...oh this is too nice, who would want to live here.
I look at a lot of homes being in the business and nothing is a faster turn off than a dirty unkept house.
Keep up the good work.

REALTOR
No such thing as TOO clean. You are doing fine.
Just one thing to check: make sure you don't have too many shoes or too many cans, or too many dishes, or too much suits and dresses in closets, or too much furniture and so on.
Everything might be very clean and neat, but too many things make your home look smaller (even too many photos on the walls make a place look smaller.)
Some people take extra things to storage to make the house look bigger.

unfortunate for u your ability to clean can be seen as a negative.
if the buyers say too clean then it maybe.
humans may talk clean but their brains are wired 'looks to good to be true , then it is '
when u know some one is coming look have a few items out of place .
won't hurt u might make them comfortable.
have a lived in look, not sears roebuck staging look.
don't worry about it, in todays market lookers have reasons not to come back.
