Daniel G | Is it common for a real estate agent to take pictures while previewing a property? |
Additional Details What I mean is: Is it normal for a buyer's agent, not a listing agent, to take pictures when previewing my property for a potential client?

Yes - you want them to be able to advertise it - and pics
are better than words sometimes. |

Yes, as long as he requests your permission to do so. I do this regularly for out of area buyer clients who would like to see more pictures than the real estate website offers. However, I always make an attempt to avoid capturing in the pictures anything of unusually high value, such as artwork, which might get into the incorrect hands and invite a potential burglary.
The buyer's agent is doing both the buyer and the seller a favor in taking such pictures, since it is intended to help sell your property. |

The listing agent will of course want to take photos to use in marketing the home they have listed. A buyers agent may want to take photos to send to their people that may be out of town-The buyer may specifically want to know about a part of the house not shown in the multiple listing.
Agents should ask the occupant for permission to take the photos and the listing agent should be careful not to unnecessarily show valuables that would attract thieves while they are putting together the marketing.
Everyone has a right to privacy but home sellers need to balance that with their desire to market the home for sale. |

It is very common. Many times I find it necessary to take pictures that may focus on areas that are of importance to my client. However, I always ask for the sellers consent! Many times, the additional pictures have help my buyers decide to buy. Hope this helps. |

with the internet today every real estate agent worth working with wants to provide some kind of virtual tour of the properties that they represent. if it is properly done it is a great tool. |

I do. Let's face it, some folks don't do a very good job in taking photos. Some listings in the MLS in my area have 1 exterior photo. What does that tell my buyer? Not much! So I will go take pictures to see if they are interested or not.
It is a nice marketing tool for buyers, and hopefully your house will sell! |
