he could have put the camera on the front of the house if it was for security, because then you could see both apartments not just mine

he put the camera on the side of the house facing my door and he knows when i come in because sometimes he's at my door 2 minutes after i come in. i also found out from the municipality that im in the apartment illegially because he has no co for the apartment. i wonder if i can get my money back he did not paint and did not finish the repairs or give me my lease as he promised it's 3 months going on 4 |

I think its legal under certain circumstances and conditions, the camera is not allowed to view any private area, it can only be focused on the fornt door or other entrance. It certainly won't be allowed to be looking through windows. Ring your local council, they should give you free advice on the legality of it. |

if it is in a flat and you only rent the room, then yes he can put a camera in the hall or entrance for security reasons. |

Take a Picture of it's actual location and take it to the Police . Hopefully you have a Digital Camera?
They will beable to speak to Landlord to see why it's been installed and look at his Monitor......doe's he live on Premises or in near vacinity ? |

Cameras in common areas are fine, but if the camera is on your door only ... you need to go to the authorities. |

As long as the camera only covers the entrance to a building and does not intrude on the persons privacy, then it is legal. However, you may want to argue that the camera just simply being there is an intrusion on your privacy.
The CAB should be able to advise you on this. |

yes he could install it in the pubic or common areas. its well within his rights. but if it is focoused specifically on your door then its breach of privacy |

Im pretty sure it is. I dont know if where you live has one or not but you should call the housing attority or maybe even the better business beural (i think i spelled it wrong) Im sure they can guide you on what you should do. Hope this info helps! |
