Is it legal for a landlord to tell other tenants that your leaving???
And also do you HAVE TO leave a forwarding address?

Your landlord can tell whomever he wants whatever he wants. as long as you didn't sign a contract saying that information is confadential. also you could just ask him not to tell anyone. You should leave a forwarding address if you want to recive your mail. but you don't have too. the best way to make sure you get your deposit back it to make sure the apartment is in the same condition as when you moved in. if the landlord charges you for things he shouldent then you can take him to court. good luck!

The landlord is going to have a unit available. He has every right to advertise it's availability in any way he wishes, newspaper, Internet, word of mount, etc.

Yes, you should always leave a forwarding address or you risk not getting anything sent to you at your old address. They're not going to stalk you.

The best way to get your security deposit back is to make certain the unit is in the same condition it was in when you moved in when you decide to leave, except for normal wear. Repair any thing that needs it, leave it clean and free of garbage, take photos to document condition, and do a walk through with the landlord before you leave.

it's not illegal

I don't see why it would be illegal , other people are going to find out anyways and they are his buildings so I don't see any other reason for it to not be legal.

It's not illegal for him to tell anyone. It's not even immoral if you didn't specifically ask him not to do so.

You don't have to leave a forwarding address if you don't want to, but you won't receive any forwarded mail.

So, what's the harm in his telling anyone you are leavingg? Do you have a problem with them knowing?

As to make sure you receive your entire security deposit back, you need to make sure you've given ample notice to the landlord, and that your appartment is in at least as good condition as when you moved in. Any repairs that need to be completed will come out of your security deposit. Also, you might wish to leave a forwarding address to the landlord

Why wouldn't it be?
No; only if you hope to get mail or packages forwarded.
Make sure the apartment is in the same condition the landlord signed it over to you in with no damage and no unpaid bills.

well if other tenants are intrested in that suite then it would be ok and theres no crime against that and the best way to get your security deposit back is to leave the suite in the same condition as you recived it in

reenzz
As long as it's the truth it's legal. Best way to get your security back is to make sure the apartment is just the way it was when you moved in...less normal wear & tear. The landlord is going to need a fowarding address if you want to have him mail your deposit back.

1. If no confidentiality agreement was signed I believe they can say whatever they want (not including slander/libel).
2. It is a good idea if anything comes up to leave a forwarding addy, but it doesnt HAVE to be YOUR addy
3. Have a lawyer help you if you dont get back all or what is fair of security dep.
