Is it ok if i i move into a bad neighborhood? ?
im 23 never been on my own. i always wanted my own place. ive been accepted to move in an section 8 apartment. they told me i can move in this sometime this week. i really want my own place. ive been waiting for a year for this place. but its in a bad neighborhood. a lot of crime goes on there and a guy got shot there before. if i mind my own buisness id be ok right? i really have nowhere else to go unless i move to florida where my boyfriend stays. what will be best?

It is not a good idea to move into a neighborhood were you know there is allots of crime. A single young girl living by herself would be very risky.
Going back and forth at night by yourself you would be taking a big chance that someone might harm you walking by yourself.

Contact your social worker and ask her if she knows of another place that would be more safer for a single young girl.

It is a risk if you move there, even if you do mind your own business, it will still be risky.

If there is anyway to live somewhere else, I would suggest it.

If there isn't, and you have to live there, just say a lot of prayers!

Walking with your head up paying attention is supposed to help you not be a target as well as engaging people who are behaving suspiciously.

I found someone beside my porch when I came home one night (I live in a decently okay neighborhood) and when I asked him what he was doing there, he started trying to think of an excuse instead of attacking. I know another woman who had a man following her after dark who went away when she turned around and questioned him

Even in bad neighborhoods, most people are good and don't want to see you get hurt. If you go into a neighborhood and mind your own business so much that no one knows who you are, no one will help you if you do end up getting into trouble. I think moving there and then snubbing the neighbors would be the worst thing you could do.

You are fine. Mind your own buisness. Lock your doors, and no harm will come your way. Think that lots of people live in those neighborhoods because they can not live any where else and they are doing just fine.

first of all why are you on section 8 at 23 are you a able bodied person to work and if you are on section 8 all you are gonna find is all crime areas on section 8.

schwildcat1977
It is ultimately up to you. There is always a level of risk in bad areas. But if you mind your own business, always lock your doors even when you are home, and be very aware of your surroundings then you should be fine. Unfortunatelynaly you have to deal with what Section 8 will pay for.

OMG I would not risk my safety just for a bit of freedom!! I do not think it's a good idea. Sure there are plenty of other places that you could look at that are in better, safer areas!!

Cat Lover
Minding your own business would not guarantee anything. If you decide to live there you need to take a self defense class.

move to Florida lol i live in the bronx new york it not safe for women over here

forget that it isnt safe for men nether lol

Mrs. Risley
You are very naive if you think you can hold your head down to avoid violent crimes in a bad neighborhood.

I agree with the keep your head, socialize with neighbours and take a self defense class, also carry a LEGAL sized pocket knife. This doesn't guarentee your safety but if you have the tools to be safe you will be a bit safer
