Yes- get a separate contract with him as well so that if something should happen down the line your family home will be protected. |

ticketoride04
you must watch the 1st 12 months of the contract for live-in owners residence by bank rules or get pre-approval for that type of tenancy.
You can also have him co-sign for you as backup credit during your building stages. |

Yeah but if he has more than one mortgage out they may require 20% down. Or if he owns another home he will prob have to list this one as a second property. |

curmudgeon
of course. |

bic
why don't you wait until you can do it on your own? that could cause big problems. |

Gerald

He is buying realestate---not a home for you...But he will let you live their. |

basport_2000

Yes, just make sure you both have an agreement (lease, etc) in place in case of any misunderstandings. |

is it possible? hello? of course |

iamtooproud
Yes, as long as he is willing to make the purchase. Because he will "own" the home, he can chose who will live there. |

Yes of course but how is he doing the loan? Is he telling the bank the house is for himself or is he telling the bank the house is for you. If he buys the home and his intention is to never live in it & rent it out to you then he has to buy the property as an investment property. If he buys the home as a primary residence but he never moves in then he is commiting bank fraud. If he buys the home as an investment property he will be paying a higher rate & will have to give a bigger down payment.
Good Luck! |

yes,but it will be like you dont own it. i think |

As long as he has the money and/or credit to get a mortgage then he can buy a house and let whomever he wants live in it. If he's renting to you he might have to get a different type mortgage and different insurance. What you/he might want to do is have him buy the house and then land contract it to you so that you will be responsible for insurance and taxes. |

The Reverend Soleil
Certainly, it's possible -- he can let whomever he wants live in his house.
Just make sure you maintain a cordial relationship with him, because he's just as much within his rights to yank the house out from under you. |

$Sun King$
Of course. |

eolson2003
Yes, but just make sure that in his will the house is given to you. |

Ryan J
Absolutely! Its called a tenant landlord relationship. As long as the people in the house are listed as living in the house, as far as the government and insurance companies are concerned its cool. As far as contracts go, you can just live there for free or he can write up a legal lease and charge you no rent or basically whatever agreement you have decided on.
Just so you know, some of this is different in some states. |

DaMan
Are you for real, anyone can buy a house and have anyone live in it. Where you just born?? |

burghgirl
Yes, it's called being a landlord. |
