Is it the apartments responsibility to spray for roaches? I have been on my?
apartment managers a$$ to get someone to come and spray my kitchen because there is roaches and she ignores me all the time. I already gave her several verbal notices and one written notice. Still no phone call from her. The maintnance guy here at the apts. told me that its the lady next door who has tons of roaches, but they arent doing anything. I stopped storing my food in the kitchen cabinets, and I clean my kitchen every night before I go to bed, and I still see roaches. What can I do?

Contact the management that owns your apartment complex and call the health department. Your manager is violating health code by denying or neglecting to take heed to your complaints.

In the meantime, buy some heavy duty roach spray. It may take awhile but it does help.

Good luck.

Send her one more warning then call the Health Department. Roaches carry diseases and you are being put at risk by your apartment manager. Or you can spray it yourself and take the amount of the exterminator off of the rent. Be warned, your landlord/apartment manager can try to evict you over this. Read your lease very well!

Apartments are supposed to offer extermination, but here is the trick, get on board with your floor. They all need to call and request extermination for the same time, and then every month. Some people don't want anyone in there apartments, so everyone may not comply.
I think you can get Boric Acid Formula which is a powder, this doesn't cost much, but you need to be very careful with, and around little crawling children, make sure cabinet doors have child safety latches, and use proper handle. Place it in the kitchen in the back corners of the lower cabinets. thed will kill the roaches, and I think you can get it at Kmart, but not in the section you think. Call around to Kmart, Target, or a hardware store. Good Luck!! This worked for me, after the apartment exterminator didn't work.
PS
Make sure you put your dish soap in the fridge, they love to eat soap, and don't leave out any fruit or food. And take out the trash after dinner, don't make it easy.

Try giving a call to your local Heath Inspector. Report the problem to them. They may want to look at the situation. If it's bad, they will certainly be in contact with your landlady.

You would probably have adequate reason to break your lease. Contact the housing department at city hall and request an inspection. That should normally be enough to motivate a lazy landlord.

If that does not work, consult with a local attorney or tenants' rights organization about breaking the lease or using a repair and deduct if allowed by local law or ordinance.

Michelle
Yes most definitely its their responsibility, I would contact the local health department or just try and get out of your lease.

Depends on state you live in but most places you should call Health Department.... I'd also be looking for different place to live.... also in an apt setting...best way to get rid of roaches isn't an easy thing to do.... everyone needs to leave all apts and every apt bombed....all done at once so they don't just go to next and eventually end up in yours again....

Pests are a bug yes? Get some specialised powder and spray to deal with the problem - the incubation period for some critters is short and they get on the job as soon as they hatch out..make sure there are no cracks in the floor, walls in foodstuff areas..keep foodstuffs in containers or air-tight boxes. Get the homeowner involved by force of necessary. see the others comments on how to do this. Getting bug free is not an easy task..it takes a lot of effort and patience though if you know how to do it then go ahead - if not, call in the bug busters.

Try getting a gecko, it will eat up all the cockroaches at almost no cost to you . From http://pests.in
