Well she will be entitled to something but it depends on all her circumstances. They will want to know the income of her household. With two other adults capable of working, this will all be taken into consideration. It may be that if one child is claiming benefits he will have to apply separately for housing benefit. I'm not sure how it works now, but she should speak to citizens advice first. One thing to remember is that if she is having difficulty then she must apply for housing benefit. Once that application is in, her landlord will be in a difficult situation to evict her, the housing benefits officer will help her with this, but an application must be in to have this protection. |

she needs to claim jobseekers if her youngest child is over 12 yes they have lowered the age apparently they are fine coming home from school and looking after themselves at this age now ( rubbish) then she needs to claim housing and council tax benefit i'm not sure how much she will get depends on size of property and age and sex of children and of course the rate of housing allowance.
best thing she can do is fill in the forms once that is done she can apply for a crisis loan if not processed by the time her next rent is due to help her to pay it.
ultimately there is help available to her so tell her not to worry about it she has enough on her plate coming to terms with being on her own right now |

Telly her to go to her local council offices, to pick up a council tax benefit and a housing benefit forms. Fill them in and send them back as soon as she can.
Both these benefits are means tested, which will mean that the total income of the household will be taken into account when applying. |
