Is my landlord harrassing or stalking me?
my landlord has issues with only certain tenets & i am one. I have not committed any crimes or anything to be evicted but she keeps sending me letters & lease violations because of my boyfriend staying overnight. When i moved here she told me the rules were no more than 14 overnight guest per month, she sent me some papers to sign saying the new rules were 14 nights per 12 months but no one else has recieved this. I have abided by the rules as i was originally told. Now she is taking pictures of his car when its here . He was here the other day while his car was in the shop & she saw him. She left a note on my neighbors door to call her. So she did, on her cell, on speaker phone from my apt . She asked her where my bf's car was and who kept my kids wed night when i was out. She told her she was gonna find his car no matter what. She then called my friend that lives at the same apt complex & was fishing for info as to whether she watched my kids that night.

she is always walking around my apt, she is putting alot of attn on me whens theres several hundred ppl living out here. Some of which have the cops called on the get arrested for drugs which is a def lease violation, possibly eviction but she does nothing to them. I know several other women out here who do have theif bf living with them. I have shown her his DL, Mail and other documents showing where he lives but she wont leave me alone. my annual lease papers are due by 4-1-07 or i can be evicted. I set an appt for this monday to do them. WEll today she sent me another letter dated 3-21 saying it was due 3-10-07. Shes really stressing me out. I am a single mother of 3 small kids. I havel ived in numerous apts over the past decade and never recieved a single complaint.

Either way, she is breaking the law. I would advise you to call a lawyer, many lawyers will give you the first visit free. Then if you can afford it have him write a letter for you to advise the landlord to disist. It should cost about $100. This tact has served me well.

That sounds really strange. I would find the number to a town official who can find the tenants act for you. Look it up (ask for help) and report her to the police- something about harassment and discrimination should pop up. I don't think she can pick and choose who gets a contract. Check into it for sure, you have privacy at stake here!

I'm assuming this women owns or manages the apartment complex and doesn't actually live with you. Am I correct?

In that case your best bet is to move. She obviously has it out for you for one reason or another. Maybe she's insecure and you have something she is jealous of so she feels the need to make you miserable. Either way starting legal drama won't solve your problem. You can hit her with a lawsuit for one thing and she will just find another way to make your life hell. Get out while you can!

I hate to say it but I'd be hot on looking for another place to stay, and feel free to give her the absolute most minimum last minute notice you can get away with if you want, but other than that you'll have to somehow conclude the terms of the agreement as well...

First ask your b/f to be patient, it will likely take a month or three for you to move at absolute minimum and I would advise he not see you at your place in that time at all. That should keep her off your back, issues or not she is adamant about this and unfortunately this needs to be respected.

That is, I suspect somehow the whole story isn't being told, but what is obvious is you can not live there under these conditions. So either move out, or your boyfriend doesn't come over no more, and I mean not even once. For all we know she is deeply religious and has a problem with unmarried couples doing what can't be seen, so to speak.
But who knows, who cares?

You could call the police and go that route but it's not going to end, this person has issues and is best avoided, I'd start turning around and don't be afraid to build speed to a gallop getting out of there, this one's trouble if things keep up.

Sorry, I love a good fight and I sure would be hollering at a good ole fashioned southern style azz whoopin', but that won't fix the problem and it really is best to git w/ out further confrontation, and a judge ain't gonna do squat for sure, regardless he'll likely throw the both of you out of court lol.

By the way, you can likely forget your security deposit, so take that into consideration but don't trash the place either. Now I'm neither on your side nor hers, but I'm looking at your question and giving you the advice I feel would be best for you, while taking the landlord's position into consideration.

Of course she is getting mad.Either put your bf on the lease or move out.she is losing money by him free loading in her appartment.She should raise your rent or prove he is living there and take you to housing court and have you evicted.Im not trying to be mean to you,just calling it as I see it.

it appears you have a busy body landlord that may be feuled by somone else having them keep tabs on you, parents. old boyfreind, or x inlaws, but to remedy this issue just force your landlord to add him to the lease and he can come and go as he pleases, if you get any resistance just take your case to a a small claims attorney it should clear itself up really quick when she recieves the certified attorney letter.

Look up Legal Aid in the phone book where you live. Give them a call. They're very good on the subject of tenant's rights. It sounds as if she believes your boyfriend is illegally living with you, in violation of your lease, but her methods are very bizarre. She's way over the line of what's acceptable.

My land lord said it was ok to pay him every two weeks for my rent. I always mail him a money order.Now are.
