i got a flat am moving into, he has on the lease that we moved in onthe 14/12/07, even though we have not, its now the 18th and we still dont have the keys, we have to sign the lease and give it back to him bu tonight, but i think he is conning us out of at least a few weeks, as the shower is broken and am not staying somewhere were i cant wash!, i know the person who stayed there before we got it and they said the showers been broke for ages and he still has not fixed it, also he says its a fuly furnished flat, when its not, says it has a garage when it only has a little shed.!

i know the guy that owns the flat, didnt think he woud con me has i have known him for about 15 years, he are not pals or anything, but all he thinks about is money. i thought if anything he would have helpt us out a bit not take more from us,,, oh i mean i forgot to say, its an extra £100 a month than the last person who stayed in it. |

Don't sign anything until you get the issue resolved. He may be trying to get more money out of you, but don't fall for it. You usually get the keys on the day you sign. |

I hope you didn't sign this lease! If you did, take your copy with you when you pick up the keys. Ask him to change and sign all copies! If he won't, then you'll need to find another place to lease, and take him to court. If you take possession of it, (move in, as is), then you are agreeing to his lease terms. |

Get out that newspaper, check the classifieds and find another place to live. He's gypping you out of 2 weeks rent before you even move in. |

I wouldn't sign the lease. Sounds like you are in for a lot of future problems. If you paid a deposit, I hope you can get it back. |

don't sign the lease until everything is to your satisfaction. Let him know you will sign a lease with a correct move in date after the shower is fixed, or add in the rent that you can have the shower fixed and it will be deducted from your first months rent. Make sure the correct move-in date and any other specifications are in writing and that you get an ORIGINAL signed by both you and the landlord, not just a copy of the original, so have him make a copy first and then sign one for you and one for him. |

He has not conned you, yet.
If changes need to be made to the lease, bring those to your landlord attention before you sign the lease. If the landlord refuses to make the changes or make the required repairs before you move, then find another place to live. Inconvenient, yes. But well worth it.
At least you took the time to read the lease before signing it. Many people don't. |

I wouldn't sign the lease until you have the keys and things are fixed because if not you will never get things done because you are in a binding agreement and it is your word against his. |

get the lease to read the way it is supposed to. And make sure everything is working before you move in and before you give him any money. |
