All real estate is local, so you have to guage the local market, but you should definately start looking. |

Depends on the market in your area. I have noticed a slump in closings for the past 2 months, but interest rates are down, and as long as you stay away from a sub-prime or ARM loan, you should be fine. Get a good, respectable lender to help you out. If you really want a house, go for it. |

Depends. How badly do you need a house? Where do you want to buy a house?
Most analysts believe that housing prices will go down some more. But in many communities, prices are not going down and will probably not go down much in the future.
Talk to real estate agents in the area in which you want to buy. They'll be glad to talk to you ... they probably aren't very busy right now. But don't just ask their opinions (remember they make money from selling houses) ... ask for facts for your specific area. |

this is most definitely a good time to buy or at least look and get your feet wet.
the markets have flat-lined and the panic stricken are panicing more and trying to get out and are making deals.
those without the funds to maintain, sell and sell at a discount for fear that the oil prices etal are going to eat us all up...therefore do your looking now and get a feel for whats in your area that you wish to reside and you will, after kicking a lot of tires and beating around in the bushes, find a home and a deal for you.
beware: don't fall sucker to variable interest loans...that's whats killing most wheeler-dealers...;get a fixed 30-40 yr loan and get situated for the duration.
be smart, shop now while prices are down in the real estate market and find your dream home. |

Market timing is a losers game. The interest rates are great, and the prices seem very good right now. If you can find a home that you like and you believe you can get it at a good price, then I would buy now.
If it will be an investment house then i would be sure I can get a positive cash flow. In my part of North Texas that is not hard to do. |

IMHO, it is a great time to buy a house. It is a buyer's market, there is a ton of inventory available, and interest rates are good. |

You need to learn to do some due diligence, and make sure
some 'metrics', or numbers, are in line.
