Any time is a good time to buy a home, but now is the best time! The market is not good for sellers, but it is great for buyers!

Hey Mark, Perfect time to buy. Definitely a buyer's market. Interest rates are low and there are great deals out there.

With your plans to live there for awhile I say its the best time. Most of the country is in a buyers market meaning you are getting more for less. Plus the interest rates are at a all time low. Please get a fixed rate mortgage and not a Adjustable rate or interest only it will bite you in the butt in the long run. You get tax benefits on you interest and the pride of home ownership. Find a Realtor and let them work for you! Good Luck!

From a buyer's perspective, the market is definitely favorable right now in many parts of the country. Property will always be bought and it will always be sold. Research your circumstances, and put your plan in motion. Line yourself up with a great mortgage person and research the government loan options open to you. The internet is great because you can always verify any information you are told. Set up your plan before you go to look, and then instruct the agent how you want it to go. The mortgage people and the underwriters can spell out the rules for you, and you take it from there. In my opinion, 2008 will only yield more opportunity than now, particularly the early month's.

The market is not good for sellers, but is excellent for buyers. It is a buyer's market, there is a ton of inventory to choose from and interest rates are favorable.

January and February are typically slow times in RE. You might find a real bargain.

The market is not good for Sellers; but for Buyers, now is a GREAT time to buy a home. This is a Buyer's market:

1. Inventories are high.
2. People whose houses have been sitting sold are highly motivated to sell and will make deals on property.
3. Prices in many areas are at 10 year lows.
4. Interest rates are reasonable.

If you:

1. Do your homework
2. Get preapproved by a lender for the house first and get a fixed rate loan; and
3. Shop carefully

now is time for you. You will have your choice of many homes within your price range. Happy Holidays ...

This is an excellent time to be buying a home. You have alot to choose from because inventory is high. The market is only bad to the sellers, because inventory is so high!

John
The market is awful, however if I was you I would still hit the pavement and check to see if you can land a great deal because a lot of people are foreclosing.

Good luck!

Wait till spring, I think they will lower the rates again. And because the gov. only made new rules to mortgage companies about new loans people are still going bankrupt which will drive housing prices down
