Is there a form that I need to fill out to give my landlord my 30 day notice?
Live in Texas. Renting a house. Lease has expired. Need to move out. Landlord requires 30 day notice. I would like to provide something to her in writing giving her my 30 day notice. Is there a form for this?

Just write a letter saying "this is my 30 day notice".

You don't need a special form. You can write it in crayon on a piece of scrap paper if you like.

I don't believe so for Texas. Write a letter and make sure you include the date when it was written, the day you plan to vacate and be very specific. That way there is no room for misinterpretation.

You can get it notarized as well if you'd like. My bank does this free of charge - - check it out. Make sure you keep a copy of it for yourself.

To avoid a land lord denying you didn't give it to them have them sign it, send it via mail and have it signed for upon delivery.

Of course not all is necessary - - some land lords are just very sheisty.

Make a simple notification letter and have it signed and make sure you make a copy for yourself or email it to them but send a certified copy of it to someone you can trust as a witness just in case something goes wrong.Goodluck!!

Generally, all you need to do is write it down on a piece of paper, sign and date it.

There is no special form that you need, you just need to write your landlord a letter stating the day you plan to move out, arrangements to return keys, and a date when you can do a walk through of the EMPTY, CLEAN apt. with the landlord. Also include a forwarding address. If you don't have your new address yet, maybe you can use a parents address. Make sure & keep a copy of the letter for your self & if the landlord lives on the property, have them sign & date your copy, if they live elsewhere, mail it to them certified so that you have a signature stating when they received it & they signed for it. I'd just write a letter stating:

"To John Doe, Apt Manager of Cedar Glen Apartments:

Please consider this letter as 30 days notice of my departure from my apartment, number 100. I plan to vacate the apartment by the end of the day on 09/30/06.

Thank you,

Jane Smith"

Simple, to the point, and they will have something in writing from you. : )

You can just call them and tell them that.
It is good if you can get to sign on a piece of paper.

Best way is to go to the Apartment office and have them write it down and give you a copy of it.

Yes. If it's an apartment then the landlord should have a paper in the office to fill out. If not I would just ask if the landlord if they have form to fill out or if it matters what it's written on. Make sure they sign it when given to them and make sure that you get a copy so that the landlord can't say that you didn't give her 30 days notice. Also just a good piece of advice...make sure you take pictures of you residents before you leave and be there for the inspection so that it covers your butt just a little more and they can't take you to court over something that wasn't your fault or that you didn't do

Just write a letter and send it certified mail
