Is there a way to see when taxs were paid on a house that is not yours?
I would like to know if there is a way to find out if and when taxes were paid on a house. The house is not mine however I do have reasons to wonder. I would ask the person themselves but they may feel thrented. The goal is to find out if this person has someone helping them before I myself help. The information is needed first.
Thanks to anyone that can help

I know in my county, in Michigan, you can go to the county website and look up parcels. You can get the taxable value, how much was paid for it at the last property transaction, if the taxes are up to date or in default. If you county doesn't have a web site, you should be able to call the county office and they can answer for you. It is a matter of public record so you shouldn't have any problem finding it.

check with the county that the property is located. it is considered public information.

Check with the county recorder's office and the county assessor's office. WHile some information is likely protected under privacy laws, if they are behind in taxes it well might be listed for tax liens or upcoming lien sales.

Go to the town hall, its public record.

Yes. In most counties you can pull up the tax bills by going on the GIS mapping for that county. Just type the name of the county, the state and the letters GIS in a google search and you can find the website. The look for a link to the tax department. You can usually search by owner name or street address.

Go to county property taxes in the county and they will you you an information report--public information -- may not say who paid-- look in the computer...
Make sure that all money given has a check with on for home on the bottom befor giving it a way. Write up a installment contract-- How much-- when -- for how long-- interest rate. First payment to repay is on what date-- stick to your guns--- don't help is a better idea...If they need money they can get a loan on the home...

You can go to the county assessors office and they can tell you if there is a balance for the taxes. You can also call. You need the address and city or town of the property. Good luck!

The tax apraisal website might tell you if it has been paid. Not sure. I know you can view the tax bill on most of them, but not sure if it shows if it has been paid.

Check your county appraisal district website.

check with your local county courthouse and look in public records and that should do it . If not go to the courthouse and have a clerk help you . good luck .

Taxes are a matter of county record. The rate paid is public knowledge. Whether it was paid may be trickier. It could fall under confidentiality law. But I'd start with the county records office.

Due to the new privacy legislation, I doubt if you would be able to get this information second hand. When preparing income tax returns for some of my older family members, I used to call the tax department at city hall and ask for this. A number of years ago they would provide this information, but not the last few years. I have had to rely on the relatives providing me with it! I understand where you are coming from. Good luck.

Real Estate Taxes are a matter of public record.

A lot of the time, there is a web site that has tax records available, and if not, you can usually view them at city hall.
