stealingice | Is there anything wrong with living in a hotel? |
I thought it would be ok because you don't have to pay utilities. Whats wrong with living in a hotel? |

I have lived in a hotel for 6 weeks and this is my experience.
The first 2 weeks it was fun. The clean the room, fix the bed, room service, everything. But after a while there are some pet peeves and problems:
1) Expect someone to come in everyday so you *might* lose something expensive if the cleaning guy is crooked.
2) If you stay in all day and don't let the cleaning people in, the front desk will keep on calling you all night long to "check" if something is wrong.
3) Those shampoos and soap they're stocking are pieces of junk in nice wrapping. So better to bring your own.
4) No matter how many times you rearrange the furniture, they will return it back to it's original place. I HAD to move around a really heavy table and chair EVERYDAY even after countless times asking them to NOT move anything.
5) Don't leave money ANYWHERE, they will take it and think it's a tip even if it's USD 10,000.
6) Room service will call you at odd hours to sell you something like a meal, stationary, etc.
7) If you touch ANYTHING in the fridge, you'll be charged 10x from the retail price.
8) Any calls you make through the hotel phone costs 10x more than the same amount you spend when calling on a mobile phone.
9) You'll be expected to keep on tipping people everyday when you stay there... it adds up.
10) Expensive. At least with an apartment you can have your own furnishings which you can sell when you get bored with it. In a hotel, you don't own squat.
At the end of the day, it costs more to stay in the hotel and eventually you'll feel that it's more like a luxurious jail since you won't have much of a privacy. ^_^ |

Nothing.
It is just SUPER SUPER expensive.
Even a CHEAP hotel is 29.99 a night. That is more than 800 a month for a one bedroom piece of crap. |

there's nothing wrong with it...that's so cool!! |

it comes it be a lot more expensive, yeah you get cleaning, but what if they walk in at a bad time? and no offense or anything but alot of people live in hotels to deal drugs and stuff so they can pick and move at any time. just letting you know. |

Interesting thought - and you get bed made for you - the cleaning all done, no linen to buy, no shampoo or conditioner to buy - although it would make your hair like straw.... you don't need to buy soap or toilet paper ever again either... actually if you can afford it I like it very much.
Um... not much space to make dinner though - can you afford dinner out every night?
You'd probalby need a suite if you entertain much...
You'd want to book well in advance, coz you don't want someone buying up your room unless you would like a change.
Not much room for book either..... |

If you can afford it, nothing wrong. To utilities, taxes or insurance and you have maid service everyday. |

Robert Kiyosaki would probably say it was a good thing. I just read his book Rich Dad, Poor Dad and he suggests putting your money in rental properties while rent yourself. |

It's pretty expensive, but hey, at least you don't have to clean your room. Can't complain about that! |

There is nothing wrong with living in a hotel.
I just wonder one thing though... wouldn't the cost of living per day be more than just renting an apartment?? |

nothing a lot of people live in hotels because of work |

If you can afford the cost, go for it! Just remember you have very little privacy. All you do will be watched whether it be the hotel security cameras, the front desk staff, or the maid service. And most hotels frown on their guests hosting a cook-out in the parking lot. |

well nothing if it has 4 or more stars |

Minnimouse

nope, there's no reason why not, and the hotel owners would be happy to have someone regularly bringing in money. But that's the problem, it costs quite a bit to live in a hotel, much cheaper to rent an apartment or flat. |

No way you live where you want to live good for you I would love to be able to live in a hotel getting your room clean for you and your meal`s made for you , you got a great life. |

Nothing, a lot of people do it here, especially if they don't want to be in a lease or may want to move whenever they want to. It can sometimes cost a little more, but then like you said covers utilities. But you sometimes get a bad element there so you may not want to be there forever! |

It's a little bit white trash, unless your a drug dealer. I mean I guess your saving some money but for what you pay a month to stay in a hotel, you could get a pretty decent apartment. |
