Im not sure what to think.But Ive ben behind on rent and the landlord a sweet heart shes giving me times to get up.So twice she has locked me out and she posted a letter before we talked about giving me time.I would go and we chat.Thats all she never done anything regards with my things.Just locked changed.Well today I walked in the apt and someone was there they broke my bed and pissed all ove rth restroom. It was horrible.I feel like I was robbed and I was with tiny things.I just not sure what to think about this now? I want to call her.This is her property its not like her to send people to do this mess.The locked was fine nothing wrong.And my window was open a crack just like I left it.I always leave it open and when the guy came last time to chaange my lock he closed my window.Im on teh 6th floor.Im just saying that they would had closed it if they were thereHelp me! I feel like I was robbed but Im late on rent this is really odd to me.Its Monday and the management is off off weekends.So happen sometime friday -sunday. Additional Details me either. The manager is not following the eviction laws. Find out what exactly the laws are for your state and sue/press charges against the landlord. She's not allowed to just lock you out. Here in IL, and in MANY other states as well, there needs to be something like a five days notice and a sheriff's order. She is not allowed to just change the locks. |

I would of called the police and had them come over and make a report. It is illegal for her to lock you out like that. Eviction is a legal process and its rules must be followed. First you are posted with pay or go. Then you are served a summons and complaint with the reason of the case being filed on it, and your time alotment to go to court and pay to answer this with filing a paper. Then a court date is held, if you paid to answer at court, you show up, argue the case and most likely you are assesed fines and told how long before the sheriffs will come to lock you out. If you do not answer, you will get served and or posted and mailed the results of the trail and the date the sheriffs will lock you out. It is very cut and dry. She is actually trying to initmidate you into moving. These notes that she leaves, save them, are they of legal time and demands or her simple come talk to me. File a police report if too much time hasnt lapsed. Then let her know what has happend and act stupid, and tell her the police are coming to print the apt, to try and scare her into stopping this bizarre behaviour. Tell her you had cleaned everything before you had left, and polished all knobs and draws and cleaned the windows, so the police are pretty sure they will be able to lift prints, and see what her reaction is. Deal with legal notes posted or delivered and act on them. You probably are needing to move out. She is no sweetie at this point anymore. She probably doenst want to feel responsible for evicting you, knowing your not set up financially to move or something. |

Does the landlord have a copy of your key? Even if you are late on the rent, you should tell the landlord. The more you wait, the worst the situation can become. It is not normal for an apartment management to this. Usually what they do is, lock you out of your own apartment. I highly doubt it that an apartment management would cause damage to to their own units, as they would have to pay the costs. Maybe there's someone out there who has a grudge on you. |

I'm sorry to say, it sounds like this has something to do with your landlady.
First of all, I don't care if she took your things or not.....Changing the locks is NOT OKAY!
That is 100% ILLEGAL and every landlord knows it. Not only can she be sued, in most states she would face criminal charges as well. Not only for illegal eviction, but for harassment as well.
Now, if someone has no problem breaking the law and doing that, then why would they have a problem doing something else screwed up?
They wouldn't. You should call the cops immediately, since whoever did it left a lovely little DNA trail in your bathroom. |

No, it's not normal. That's why you're upset.
First of all, you probably can't prove that your landlady is behind this. It could have simply been a vandal.
You should talk to your landlady and ask if anyone else had a problem with this. If not, call the police if it's not too late. Do everything possible to get caught up with your rent to make sure that if she IS behind it, it doesn't happen again - even if it means giving her $4 at a time. Show some effort. Sell something if you can, but get caught up. |

Do you have a lease? What are the terms of your lease? Is a month to month? 6 month? 12 month lease? You need to call the non emergency local authorities and file a report regarding the break in. I don't know if the length of time varies from state to state, but usually you have to be at least 30 days past due on rent for the landlord to even attempt to evict you. Even then they have to get a judge to sign off on the eviction. File the report and start looking for another apartment. Just get away from that nonsense. Your Landlord doesn't have the right to enter your apartment except in the case of emergency without giving you notice first. Her giving keys to your apartment so someone can vandalize is just ridiculous (if she did). Start looking for new place, they sound crazy to me. |

Definetly contact your landlord and ask her what is going on.
Ask your apt. neighbors if they have seen anyone suspcious roaming around your place. If all else fails think about filing a vandalism report with your local police.
Try to get that rent caught up. One way is to prioritize. Maybe the internet service you have should be cancelled and money used for something more impotant like a roof over your head. |
