Hope | Is this sound weird? 10 points for the best advise. Thank you? |
I am looking for a rommate or apartment in DC. Normally, it cast about $ 500-700 per month with room mates. I came across this post. They only want $300 per month. I ignored the post because I thought they lied.
I saw the post again today. I sent them an interested e-mail about the apartment. Someone replied me. They said, they will not call me until I send them my pictures and myspace, facebook, or others networking websites.
I did not reply them because I do not think it is normal. What do you think? Please advise. Thank you. |

No don't do it. Its a scam. They will figure out what to use to copy your ID. This is also an invasion of privacy and no landlord has a right to ask for.
Yeah moms and dads do think some babies are ugly. |

Don't do it.
There's no reason why anyone needs this info, so there's probably something going on.
If you're really interested you can call them and ask why they need it, and instead if you could just do a personal interview. |

I really think it is strange they wont reply and sen you information without you sending them a picture or your myspace with your personal information on it. I think they sound creepy and I probably wouldnt move in with them even if they offered me free rent! :) Be Careful! |

If you want roomates, put an ad in a local paper and screen people in person.
No this isn't normal. I'd just ignore them. |

My friend was getting all sorts of creeps when she tried to sell her car... they would call wanting to see her myspace pics of her car...

I don't think it's normal. This is my guess: It's probably someone extremely young that wants to make a rental decision on how someone looks. |

I'd say that that sounds like a "KEEP AWAY" notice. You're looking for roommates, not a modeling job, or a pimp.
I'm glad that you were suspicious...lord knows there's enough junk out there that we all have to protect our safety...good gut feeling! |

Block their email, and igore the offer, it is definitly fake, sounds a bit like stalking, if it carries on, prepare to report, you are wise to ignore it. |

Two things...
1) It shouldn't really matter but, you should take into consideration where in DC it is. If it's in some shady part of DC then I wouldn't advise you send them this info. But you can always call and base whether you want to meet with them or not after the phone conversation, not the networking websites
2) It might be a ligitimate request given my you're okay with the first point I made. Because I know if I was looking for a roomate, I wouldn't want them looking like a serial killer or a complete wierdo. Facebook and myspace isn't really personal, it public info so this potential roomate is just as much a stranger as some random viewer. Unless you have your settings on private.
Your call but trust your gut instincts. DC can be a wacko place. |
