Well I live with two other people in a one bedroom apartment. Our rent costs $435. Electricity is around $50-$60. Food and groceries are around $200 every 1-2 months(depends on if we shop). I make $8.70 and hour, another roommate makes $8.50, and the other makes around $7.50. It is hard to make it sometimes. We also have internet for school and it is $75 a month. That averages about $200 of shared bills per month if you do groceries. If you have to pay water, gas, etc it will be more. You could probably make it with three. Just learn to budget. It would be easier on you if you got another roommate, then you won't be working all the time. Just figure all your costs . Divide all costs you will share by three. Find out what you will expect to make in a month (7.75 X hours per week X 4). Take out some money for taxes. If your paycheck is lower than your bills, get another person. If you need help add some additional details. Good luck. |

One Step Ahead

You are forgetting something that is very important, who do you think that is going to rent to three/four minors with no job history? Older people that have been on their jobs are getting laid off. It is hard to find a job with no experience, unless you are planning on working for $7.75 for a year.
Are you willing to make a sacrifice and no parties during the week? No loud noise or music after 9:00 p.m. No traffic of people going and coming from the apartment ?
If one of you get laid off from their job, who will pay their portion of the rent? Do all of you have a cash reserve for emergency?
When I was an apartment manager I rented to three young girls. They paid their rent on time, one work at night, one was going to school and her parents paid her portion of the rent. The other girl work part time and had a boyfriend. She decided that if she would move in with the boyfriend she could save money.
She moved out and the other two could not cover the rent. I felt very sorry for them but I had to give them a notice to pay or move. It was a big mess, and one girl had to move back home with her parents. The other one had to quit school and look for a full time job.
It sounds great to have your own place, and no one telling you what to do or not do each day. Make sure that you think things through before you move out on your own. |

Do the math and see how much each of you has to pay for rent, utilities, food, and other expenses. Then do your math and add up what each of you will make each month. If its enough, great! better to be over than under obviously. |

Well, after taxes that means you would bring home less than $1,000 a month. If you have to pay $300 for rent, another $100 (each) for utilities, and provide food, clothing, insurance, health care, transportation, etc. will you have enough? That seems like awfully little income to live on your own (or with roommates).
Also, what if someone moves out? If you have even one month without a room mate, you will likely be out on the streets. You would have no buffer. |

7.75 hr times 40hrs times 3people =990/wk so roughly biweekly you will be bringin in about 1860 before taxes so in a month you'll have double that or 3720 you have enough however comma pause for effect what if someone backs out? for 3 people whose sharing a room? |
