Looking to buy a house..?
I was looking at this house its priced very cheep, it says it has "slab issues" what does that mean?

godged
It means the foundation is not solid and this is typically a deal breaker for most people.

It probably means there is a potential problem with the slab that the house has been built on, it could be major cracks, shifting due to non post tension issues- although it may seem like a good deal as a Realtor I would steer myself AWAY from this home. The slab affects EVERYTHING.

Do not purchase this house without getting an estimate of the repairs. Also you need to be able to afford these repairs out of pocket, or have the seller fix them as part of the sale.

The slab, is the concrete base of the house. If the foundation of the home is cracked, or falling apart, there could be a number of problems. The home could be shifting, there could be seeping through the floor, or the land underneath could be unstable. This is a major issue, so the house better be real cheap to make it worth while.

Pengy
It means instead of a basement the house is situated on a concrete slab. Most times if there are issues that means cracks, and cracks mean water problems, in a nut shell stay away from it

Means, stay away from it, unless you want to deal with it forever.

I’m guessing “foundation” issues. I’ve only seen “slab” referred to as a type of foundation. It’s when your house is set on solid concrete, as opposed to cinderblock or having a basement. Foundation issues are usually bad, thus the low price.

When you’re looking at listings, keep in mind that the agent is trying to paint as rosy a picture as possible so if you see admissions to issues like this, you can probably assume the house is in bad shape.

Find out what the slab issues are, Get a free quote on the fix. Be careful slab issues can be a big problem. or not

Bruce T
"Slab" or "foundation" issues are not good. The home is priced because it is not appealing to home buyers. You may not be able to find a mortgage lender to loan you money as well since this has been noted as a "condition".

"Slab" or "foundation" problems create unusual "settling" on the home and could "rip", "break", or "crack" walls, wood, etc. Water flow will rapidly deteriorate an already troublesome "foundation" and may damage the entire home to a "unrepairable", "unlivable" state.

You DO NOT want to buy this home. If you are still not convinced hire a "Home Inspector" for your benefit.
