RetroBunny69 | Move or not to move??? Your opinion please??? |
Current Apt:
$1500 including water, trash & sewer
the building is over 20 years old, however it has a tennis court, basketball court and 2 swimming pools (and we use them daily).
New Apt:
$1510 NOT including water, sewer & trash (but they are only about $30 a month)
The building is BRAND NEW with only one pool...and located right next door to my current apartment...meaning I don't have to rent a truck to move. The rumor is that $1510 is way below the market price for a brand new apartment building, therefore, my rent will be increasing significantly as soon as my initial lease expires next yeat. |

I would only move if:1) I have more people move in with me and need a bigger place. 2) The current apt. condition is really bad and is uninhabitable.
If it's none of the above, I would stay where it is plus it has a tennis court and paid utilities. Evaluate it yourself unless you're really in LOVE with the brand new building and willing to sacrify the amenities you're getting right now. |

Lets see, its right next door. So its not like youre moving from a bad side of town to a good one. It costs more, but has less ammenities. I wouldnt do it. |

bam....

Stay where your at...... |

So it sounds like you need to decide what it's worth to you to have a newer building. Personally, I don't see why you would move since it is in the same area with higher rent and worse amenities. |

Go 4 it... as long as you are sure about the utilities. You just can't beat a new place. Good luck & enjoy! |

Don't move. Why not:
--Moving's a hassle. Even if you don't have to rent a truck to move, you'll still have to move all your stuff.
--You'll be paying more--$40 by your calculations. Yes, you're worried about your rent increasing in your old place. Have you considered that the $1,510 at the new place may be a "teaser" rate, and they plan on raising it after the first year?
--You're not moving to a better part of town. You're still where you are, for better or worse. It's a lateral move.
--You'd have fewer amenities at the new apartment than at your current one.
The only reason you've presented is that the other building is new. New also means glitches.
It sounds as if you want to move because of the newness. It doesn't sound like you'd be making a terrible mistake. You might just end up with the hassle of moving, paying more in rent, and receiving fewer amenities. It wouldn't work for me, but if it works for you.... |

I would stay where you are unless their is a clause not to increase rent on the original renters for a certain term. Some do that to gain renters. |

Stay in your old one, I would probably. You have a POOL! And a TENNIS COURT! WOW! I have... a set of swings covered in cobwebs. But I do love our house xD |
