Moving Out At Sixteen With Boyfriend?
My Parents Are Strict, I Sometimes Think That I'm Glad They Are Cuz I Wouldn't Wanna Be Like Some Of My Friends Are Drinking All The Time And Stuff. I'm 16. I Know You All Think I'm A Child But I Have Been Through A lot For Someone My Age And I'm Matture For My Age. At The Moment I Live With My Mom And Dad. I Want To Move Into My Own Flat With My Boyfriend Of Two Years. Although I'm 16 I Am Sensible And Want To Put My Name On The Flat Incase Anything Happens And Then It's My Flat To Keep. My Boyfriend Is 21 And Earns Aproximately 300 A Week So I Know We Could Afford A Small Two Bed Flat. Does Anyone Know Any Letting Offices In Birmingham, England Which Would Be Liniant In Age? Or Do You Think I Should Move Into My Boyfriends Family Home For A While? As I Get On Really Well And My Family Don't Seem To Be That Bothered About How I Feel About Him. Thanks x

You do not sound very mature. You sound like a child.

In the US your "boyfriend" would be called a pedophile and in prison.

You need to stay with your parent and finish school, which is another 6 years or so. If you leave now to play house you will not only fail but screw up your future, making a real house and good future very difficult.

Someday you will realize that moving out at sixteen with a boyfriend is one of the dumbest things you can do. You can't even get a good job because you have no experience!

What's with all the capital letters? You cant rent or own property in your name until you are 18. There is no way around it. Even if both your names are on the lease, who says it will be yours to keep if you break up? Sounds like he is going to be paying for it anyway, what contribution are you making? The flat will be his and if you dont want it this way, then dont move in with him.

Same as the previous answer about putting your name on the lease agreement, can I make an observation here ... you seem to be trying to denote how old you are by using capital letters , a word of advice to you take your time growing up because when you are older you can never get back

Sarah* [[tarantula?]]
So, when you started going out you were 14 and he was 19...
Sorry, I just think relationships at that age with such an age gap don't give a good impression in questions such as these.

Before you judge me for not understanding - I'm 17, my boyfriend of almost a year is 18. I KNOW what it's like being young and in a relationship.

And you have to wait until you're 18 to put your name on the lease, no estate agent will let you at age 16.

Also, a 2 bedroom flat would be approx £350 - £400. (In my area anyway, The NE of Endland). Then there's food etc to pay for on top of that.

Give me thumbs down if you like but...I'm just stating a fact.

EDIT - Sorry, I just re-read your question and realised you said £300 a week, I misread it the first time and thought you said 'month'. So the money sounds like it won't be an issue, but there's still the age and lease etc to take into account.

Bad, bad mistake. Stay at home.

yummymummy
At 16 there is no landlord that would except you.

you may think you are mature enough to cope with adult responsibilities but the reality will hit you like a ton of bricks.

stay at home and enjoy being young there is so much more costs envolved than just the rent.

if you move out now you will regret it, if you stay at home or atleast move in to your boyfriends family home then you can spend your wages on yourself rather than utilities and you can save for the future.

i think your getting alittle ahead of yourself when your older you will guaranteed look back on yourself at the tender age of 16 and realise how young you were.

i had a hard life and grew up too quick because, i wish i could go back and change things now.

EDIT SHES FROM TH UK SO SHE'S ALREADY FINISHED SCHOOL, OVER HERE WE FINISH AS EARLY AS 15 WITH QUALIFICATIONS.

SORRY I HAD TO ADD THAT BECAUSE IT ANNOYS ME WHEN PEOPLE FROM THE US CANT COMPREHEND OUR SCHOOLING SYSTEM.

I moved out at 16 with my boyfriend who is now my husband, it's hard i'm not going to lie. I think it is best that you move in with your boyfriends parents just to get used to living away from your family, see how you like it and if so go ahead with renting a flat. I don't know of any Letting Offices that are lenient on age, sorry. Also if it's your boyfriend who is going to be paying for the flat then i don't think it should all be in your name, if you fall out with him and it's all in your name then who is going to pay for it? certainly not you unless you get a job. I suggest you think things through before jumping in at the deep end.

All the best anyway.

if u seriously think that 300 a month is going to pay rent, council tax, electric, gas, tv, food not to mention furniture and kitchen appiliances etc. i don't think u really realise how much money it will take. and no estate/letting agents will take u on as the main name on the lease either, they all require credit checks which show if u earn or have enough money to pay the rent which i'm guessing u don't. at 16 your gonna struggle to get a job that pays enough to cover all these costs either. i suggest u wait a couple of years

estielmo
Like it or not, legally you are a child. In the USA, any landlord renting to you would be abetting "statutory rape" and "endangering a minor." These are not minor items.

Better to stay at home and finish school. You say your parents have been a great influence. Why reject them at this important juncture in your life?

i know what i going through ur head right now, my boyfriend of 2 years is moving to arizona with his family who all love me, they want me to go with, i want to go with, but my partents would never let that happen, i have three choices, stay finish high school then go in a year, get an enalment from my family (which whould be to hard because they have done nothing wrong) or get my parents to agree and have them sign over temporary costidy of me to them. if i moved i would get schooling and all that, the only problem is my parents i dont know what to do either
