Moving out 1 bdrm good plan?
Since my divorce My daughter and I live with my mom to help us and to financelly help her. She got a large inhert. and no longer needs help so were moving. I got a 1 bdrm coz I spend all my time in the lvg room and ktch anyway. I do not think I need to spend 100 extra to make someone else rich when I could save it for a downpayment on a house. Good or bad idea?

Hi,
I think you have made your decision and your cozy little home sounds wonderful. I to a single mom and live in the home of my brother and his family, I can somewhat relate. Having been a real estate agent, if you are renting a 1 bedroom and saving money good for you. When you decide that you are ready to start looking for a home to buy always remember the re-sale value, though in your heart you may feel you will never move again, you might and you would want to get back more on your investment.
I think you have a great idea.

Given you have a kid it sounds like your thinking for the future, good for you. Anytime you can save money towards the acquisition of a home it is a good idea, you might also check your section 8 programs in the municipality you live in, sometimes they have programs for single mothers that will allow you to save even more money.
Good luck and "your not fired"

Sounds like a good idea to me and it's a good lesson for your daughter to see you make sacrifices now so that you can have more in the future. Point this out to her and hopefully she will apply it to her own life.

I think it is a good idea.

I have a bedroom but I sleep in the living room because I like to.

Why pay for an extra room that you don't need?

Depends, how old is your daugther? Social Services, has laws about that when children reach a certain age, they need to have a room, seperate from their parents.

Hello,
what you should do ,and I dont know what type of relationship you have with your mother but sounds streong, Have her loan you enough for a sizable down payment so your payment wont be out of reach or stressful in a nice new housing developement so everything is new and warrenteed, again less stress, having to fix things in a home and pay for It can be overwelming, then refinace 2-5 years down the line and pay her back, the tuffest part of home ownership is just getting in the door,100 a month saved wont cut it and you and your daughter need it now and housing is going down and with enough down payment you could get a good fixed loan with low interest rate, dont waste time kiss moms *** now, this could be the beginning of a hole new life for you and your daughter, IM PRETTY DAM SMART

short term it is okay but depending on how old your daughter is she is going to want her on room so your logic is correct and sounds like you have a plan the only thing left is for you to follow through. Buying a home is a big investment and can be intimidating but remember there are thousands that do it everyday explain to your daughter what your plans are and live life eachday as it were your last good luck and I hope this helps you
