BLOW! | Moving out in July, should i start buying household items now? |
I am (hopefully) moving out of my parents house and into an apt or trailer in July, and I was wondering if its a good idea to buy things such as pots and pans, silverware (basically any kitchen ware), bathroom items, etc, and store them (in my parents house) away until i move out? or if its better to just buy them all when i get a place? |

maybe not so soon maybe around springtime. |

I would buy them now. With the way the economy is right now, retailers are giving deep discounts for the holiday season, so you'll save money too! Even if you don't move in July, you'll be ready when you do. |

my suggestion to you is you have a lot of time to shop around and buy things from now and get great deal on a lot of items.
Linens and things is going out of business locate the one closest to you and buy things there.
Here is the website http://www.lnt.com/home/index.jsp
I would start now and get all the good deals that I can.
Good luck!! |

start now! You can ask for things as part of your Christmas gift list, get even more items when they go on sale after the holidays! Don't forget to go to yard sales in the spring!
Plus, you will be a little broke when you move, getting moved, paying deposits and getting all the utilities turned on can be rough on the pocketbook - so planning ahead will make it easier.
Enjoy planning for your new place! |

i defiantly think it would be a good idea to get a lot of the necessary items out of the way now. It will end up saving you some hassle.Another tip, you could always invest money into gift cards to places that sell house ware and kitchenware as well. |

Yes, gradually it's a good idea, if you find good things on sale that is.
BUT a better suggestion would be to just start putting money away. If you buy new things now it will be a hassle to move all of it when the time comes. It would probably be good to start a little savings account and put some money in whenever you can, that way you will be set to buy whatever it is you want when you actually have a place to move in to. That's what I did, I started late, but I ended up saving about $900 in the end, and used ALL of it within the first few months. It can get expensive having your own place, just remember that. There is a lot you will need, even if you don't think of it now it'll come up later.
Good luck with everything! :) |

I think thats a great ideal thats what i did. I also went looking for furniture and when i found what i like i put it in layway that way when its time to move out you will have all the inportant stuff out the way and that way you want be spending alot of money when the time comes. |

You probably might want to start seeing as you are still living with your parents. For now I would get what would probably be really essential in living your life on your own. |

You should probably wait until you are actually in your own apartment or trailer, then you don't have to move so much and you can buy things to match your new place. |

I have been in your shoes and from my experience and based on your situation i say start buying now.
You have the benefit of being able to store them and right now retailers are hurting and are giving big discounts so take advantage of these discounts.
And believe me, there are so many little things that go into filling a home. Often you will forget the little things like peelers, paper towel holder, drying rack, shower curtain rings, etc. So start browsing stores, finding deals, and making lists so you won't forget the little things.
And when you buy cookie sheets and plates, mark them off the list so you know what you have and what you don't. You can also make the move easier by boxing up these things so when moving time comes around, there is less to pack.
Also, consider how much you are buying. Don't buy all those cool gadets like grilling machines, blenders, rice cookers, food processors and such. Chances are you won't even use most of them and you may not even have enough room for all of that. But things like spatulas, utensils, plates, pots, pans, you will definitely need.
Good luck! |

it depends on how well u save money! if u r a good saver, it doesn't matter just a preferance. if u cant save money, buy it now!!!! |

Yes you should start getting things now. Even put some on your xmas list to help you save money. |

Save up all you can and buy after you move. It will be more fun when you have your own place. The only exception I'd make if you see a good deal on something you really like. Don't forget yard sales and places like that. |

i think you could start now. it could be a big shock on the wallet when you move out to have to go out and buy everything at once! |
