Gillian F | My best housing option? (UK only please)? |
I have to be out my house in a month as my dad has come into some financial difficulty and has to move to smaller house which has no space for me, Im fully employed but dont have the money for a place of my own? any help u could give about housing benefits till i get on my feet etc? |

You won't get any benefits if you are fully employed and have no dependants. If you are going to live on your own though you will get 25% discount on your council tax.
Just a little tip - You are going to have to rent privately, therefore you will need a deposit. If you have no savings for this the best thing to do would be to get a 0% interest credit card and transfer the amount needed for a deposit into your current account (you'll be charged around 3%) and then pay it back before the interest free period ends. You will get the money back when you leave the property. |

surely he aint gonna kick u out....maybe put ur stuff sumwhere..get rid of some also n sleep on thesofa or floor...its a bit drastic
but i guess if ur employed try lookig to rent on a group basis...a house with several people can work out bettre for u financially. n u might have sum hot girls to share with lol
but seriously..look at that option and also u may wanna go to the council also n see if they can probvide u with houseing..really good if ur a chav cos thats where they all live...lol
gdd luck |

Housing benefit and council tax benefit are means tested, which means if you are entitled to it and how much, is dependant on your level of income.
Your main objective is to get yourself some rented accommodation, then worry about getting financial help after that. |

Well friend, if you are single or couple without any children then the council wouldn't help you in any way.
Rent a room (with a partner if you have one) |

if you go to your local council they will help, do you have any children? if not then they wont be so keen to help but you will need to get your dad to write a letter to them saying he can no longer keep you at his, they will need at least 2 weeks notice, i expect you will be given a one bedroomed flat or if there is a waiting list you will be put into temporary accommodation for a while. |

This is the best site for benefits advice

You sound as if you are single without dependents. I would think you will not be entitled to any benefits.
Your local authority may be able to help you find an approved landlord or 'homeless accommodation' if you are unintentionally homeless. |

Kip on the floor until you can sort yourself some accommodation. There must be a space somewhere. |

Hi there Gillian,
First thing to do is not to stress to much about it,go to your local council and explain the situation. Have you got proof that your Dad has to vacate his property? if you have take it with you.if you have no proof it dont matter just yet. I know that a company called trent and dove can help you with a deposit if you have to privatly rent i think it's up to £400. look in your local papers for any private landloards, they sometimes let you pay the deposits as a add on to your rent.because you are employed i dont see it being a problem really. Maybe a trip to your local citizens advice bearau might help you too.
Have a look on this web site i found it very informative of your rights etc when i was facing eviction i spoke to someone the same day i called. Hope everything goes well for you and your Dad. |
