Lease? Why would you want the liability of it? If you are on the lease & anything happens, you & he can be sued, garnished, etc. Is that your ultimate goal?
It's not a bad thing to be NOT ASSOCIATED with a lease or purchase agreement. If you are Queen Bee, you already have a certain amount of control WITHOUT liability.
In the event of default, you are not additionally sued NOT financially responsible, in the event of default. NOT A BAD THING.
Count your blessing. Personable, I'd avoid ANY liability on any lease or purchase if I were not married.
If it's a power thing, get over it & enforse your authority by other means. Do you really want to be held financially responsible for the remainder or shortage of ANY lease or rental agreement in this case if your man decides to avoid responsibility? Damages done to a rental unit? HELLO!!!
If you do, you need help.... |

If he's buying it, why should he put your name on it. When or if you get married and make commitments to each other, then you have some rights. What if you get your name on it and he decides to take off. . .then you are stuck and your credit is ruined. Never make legal agreements to pay if you're not married and legally together and believe me you won't get your name on the title unless you get your name on the mortgage. |

If he is buying the house and you want to have your name on title, then you should split the cost of the house in separate loans. Don't expect him to put your name on the house if your name is not on the bank loan/ mortgage. Don't pay on the house payments so no one feels obligated if there is a split, instead put some bills in your name and pay those, as long as the payments are of equal debt. Otherwise make him put a ring on you sweetie! |

If he is buying a house there is no lease. There's a mortgage payment. Why would you want to be on the mortgage if you don't even know if you will be with this guy for 30 years. You would be responsible for the mortgage payments in the event he defaults and you no longer live with him. Get your own house so you can have equity in it when you sell it. |

This is between you and him, know a lot people are doing it like that. But why do want your name there,? Are you paying part of the house?! |

When buying a house there is no lease involved. There's an owner's title. Unless you are planning to marry, I don't see why you'd expect it to be on there unless you are co-buying with him and submitting dollars in the down payment as well as paying half of the mortgage every month. I wouldn't ask if I was you without your being involved in the actual purchase. If so, then I'd demand that it be written in as you'd be part owner... |

is he leasing or buying? and do you plan to help him with the payments? you should wait and see if he offers plus since you guys aren't married you may want to wait to go in together on such a big thing after you guys have tied the knot. |

if he is buying a house, there is not going to be a lease... it's going to be a mortgage... are you planning on helping him pay half of the mortgage, utilities, taxes and insurance?? if so, i'd insist on having your name on the mortgage... if not, then it's not fair to ask! good luck! |

I think it would depend first upon how serious you and your boyfriend are. It doesn't seem like you could be too much, since you haven't discussed you being part of the home purchase. If he is buying, that means you want to be on the mortgage, right? In order for that to happen I am pretty sure your credit would have to be taken into consideration, and it might have an effect on his loan. You would also be responsible if for some reason the payments ever became behind, and if you ever broke up... I'm not sure how that would be handled. It's alot to think about. If your comfortable with all of this, you should just ask him how he feels about it. Feel him out, don't just come right out and say, "Put me on the lease". |

Sign a legal contract. If you asked without any responsibility... I would find a new girlfriend. So, no, I wouldnt ask. |
