Im unemployed and struggling, i have no idea how to pay the rent, I have no family or friends to help me out, and the only person that can babysit is after she finishe's work. Thats fine as i am desperate to work whenever i can.

Go to the council and benefits offices straight away.
With a child you should be able to get income support, council tax relief and housing benefit.
Unfortunately, it can take as long as 2 months to get the housing benefit sorted before the first payment, so you`ll need to hope that the landlord will hold off that long.
Once it is sorted however, you`ll be able to get the back dated payments, so that you can pay everything you owe, its just whether the landlords happy to wait 2 months for his money.
Go down to your council offices and benefits office tomorrow, taking with you personal identification, such as passport or driving licence, and proof of address in the form of utility bills eg gas, water, electric. Also, take along your birth certificate and national insurance card, and your daughters birth certificate. Take along your tenancy agreement as well.
You`ll also need to take down your bank account details for setting up payments.
This should be all the information you need, so you can stay in the offices, fill the forms in, and get them back straight away.
If you know who your landlord is (ie you pay direct and not through a letting agency), it may be worth trying to explain the situation, saying that he will get paid but it will take a while, but he will get all the rent owed. In the end this is better for him than kicking you out and risking months with no rent looking for a new tenant.
Act immeadiately, as things will only get worse if you leave them!
I hope you can get things sorted for you both. |

First thing you do is talk to your landlord. I am one and I can't read tenants' minds. When the rent doesn't get paid, and I don't hear from the tenant the worst comes to mind. But if someone communicates with me, then I know they're not planning to skip (sometimes they lie and still skip, but a lot of times not), they haven't forgotten, and that it's on their mind to pay. The worst thing you can do at this point is avoid your landlord.
Next, contact local charities to see if they help with rent. Also, call churches, a lot of them will help. Contact your local welfare office to see if they can help. They can also help you financially while they help you find a job, help with resumes, interviewing techniques, etc. They can also pay for daycare while you get back on your feet, and help with daycare costs once you get a job.
Good luck, you can do it if you set your mind to it!! |

Get child support. |

Again, you entered into a binding and legal contract with your landlord. He may be sympathetic to your situation, but he still deserves to be paid, either from you or from someone else.
You might consider contacting any of the social service agencies in your area for short term financial assistance, and you also should be receiving some child support payments from the father of this child.
As sad as I am to tell you this, unless you can scrape up sufficient funds in the means described above or elsewhere, you may well end up losing the roof over your head. |

You may have to move out. If you can't afford it then you'll have to leave or you'll be evicted. |

Get in touch with your local Citizens Advice Bureau as soon as possible, they will be able to advise you. Good luck. |

Two things.
1. If your boyfriend is the father of that baby, he owes you child support.
2. If your boyfriend's name is on that lease, he owes you rent.
You might need to talk to an attorney to get it, but it sounds like you have money owed to you. There are legal services in most cities to help those without money. Call around for some help. Good luck! |

You can try applying for child tax credit but that make take a while. Why not have a lodger move in and help with the rent |

1. You can get housing benefit
2. Get your name on the council housing list
3. Get help from social services
4. Your ex boyfriend owes you rent
5. Get a lodger to rent a room with you |

Can you find a roommate to help pay the rent. If both names are on the lease, then you are both responsible for the rent or any fees associated with breaking your lease. If you can't find a roommate, I suggest applying for state assistance, welfare, or Section 8. |

try to find someone to sublet one room to...
or look for working from home opprtunites...
I know it sounds bad, but have you considered cleaning houses...you take you daughter with you and she can play while you clean...(sorry if this doesn't suit your social status, as a suggestion, but you are pretty much against the wall and need some income) |

Are you in UK. If so you can get your rent paid by the DSS until you get work. What other benefits do you get?Your ex boyfriend also has a financial obligation to you to help support his daughter.Go to the DSS so they go through everything with you and you will know exactly where you stand. |

Apply for public assistance until you find a job. Maybe look for a roommate and take him to court for child support.. |

Is this a private or council property? If you are unemployed and you are in council accommodation contact the housing office immediately and let them know of your situation, they will do everything they can to help you. If it is a private landlord, then you should also make them aware - if you don't then if/when you fall behind they will probably be very unsympathetic. Even if your boyfriend has moved out has an obligation to support and help his daughter and this means helping you. Go to the Citizen Advice Burea and see what they recommend, but he cannot just walk away like that
Best of luck |

the dhss will pay the rent for you if ur unemployed go to the housing and pick up a form and fill it in get your landlord to help u fill it in u can get the rent paid for i no as i had to do it but the housing office wasnt long on finding me a house quicker and my rent is still getting paid |

Go to the council, and speak to the housing department, they will either pay your rent or most off it dependant upon amount and your needs. They will also get rid of your council tax. Not ideal but will safe gaurd your home. Next you need to get on to what ever the dole is these days, again not good but you can get help and advise on work and options. You also need child support. Ideally your ex should stump up half the rent, but you could end up being evicted before this happens. You need now to look at ways forward... and your ex needs to know he is responsible financially as well. |

I would call and see where the local unemployment agency is and find out how they can help you. I would also try to get on state aid for right now. It is for people in need like you and your lil' one. I would also talk with your landlord and explain what happened to an extent and tell them you want to keep the place but you are looking for work and in the process of getting help. If your ex was on the lease then he is still liable for at least 1/2 the rent so I would look into that also. I think he is a skeeze bag for up and leaving you and your daughter like that. What a nice dad. Also child support (hello!!) It will be at first a struggle but in the long run it will be worth it. You and your daughter need positive people in your lives. Good Luck!! |

I am a private landlord, this is my advice to you.keep your landlord informed of all you do,it will show commitment and responsibility to the roof overb your head.
Go to the council, fill out all the forms,be honest ,do not lie, send copies of paperwork to your landlord.
As a landlord you want to no that the tenent is doing all they can to obtain benifit,as a child is involved you willn probably recieve benifit, and you wont lose your home good luck. |

u should be able to get housing benefit to help u out with the rent. they only pay a certain amount though so it depends on how much rent u pay, go to citizens advice or ur local council they will be able to advise u |

there is nothing you can reallly do, but break the lease than you both would have to pay the balance of the rent. Most landlord's would not rent out to a non married couple I'm surprise he took that chance. Sorry your **** out of luck! |
