My car was hit in my driveway by the renter next door. Can I put a lien on the landlord's home?
The renter next door to me hit my car (1000 damage) and has no money. My car was in my driveway and he is renting the duplex next to me. Is his landlord responsible, can I put a lien on his duplex? Thanks for helping in advance.

No, the landlord is not responsible for the driving skills of a tenant.

TheMom
No, the landlord is not responsible in any stretch of the imagination.

You need to talk to your insurance company,

No way! Besides, why should the landlord have to suffer because your car got hit?! He didn't hit it. That's just mean. You are going to have to stay after the driver.

No, the landlord is not responsible so you can't lien his property.

You need to report the incident to the police. Then take the tenant to small claims court, or get his insurance information and contact the insurance company.

Good luck!

No, a landlord is not responsible for the actions of his tenant. If the tenant that hit you has no insurance, you sue in small claims court.

Great post! I completely understand your question. Money is hard for a lot of people right now since the enconomy is going down. My friend told me about this website of an organization that gives people up to $1500 towards their rent or mortgage. It's available in most areas, so I think you should check it out.

Hope this helps!

No, his landlord is not responsible for the tenants bad driving. Take your neighbor to small claims court if they don't pay up for your car repair.

The landlord is NOT responsible for the tenants actions.

You could go after the tenants auto insurance.

If he can't pay his landlord is responsible for evicting him && still gettin paid,
