Unlucky - everybody hates estate agents! (except estate agents and peope that are in this section of Yahoo Answers)

Year 8 is far to young for your daughter to decide what she wants to do with the rest of her life. It sounds more like YOU want her to be an estate agent. Why don't you let HER decide what SHE wants to do with HER life.

Any degree will do. The money is not good however, unless she is working on commission in which case the pressure is extremely intense. Employers usually chose well-dressed and well-spoken young trainees. Good interpersonal skills are a great bonus but basic reading, spelling, punctuation and grammar is absolutely necessary. Thus:

My daughter wants to be an estate agent and I don't know what qualifications she needs.

She is in year 8, has to choose her options and doesn't know what to select. I think it would be a good idea if she was an estate agent. Please can you leave me some answers?

Many thanks

your daughter is a grown woman. why are YOU asking this question?

I depends what you mean by "wants to be an estate agent" - She could work in an estate agents office as a clerical assistant - for this she would need to go to college to take the appropriate secretarial skills. Thre better positions in an Estate Agents will involve valuation of properties and for this you would be best with a surveyor's qualification which can be as high as degree level standard. - check out the courses at a local college - usually 5 GCSEs at grade C or better are needed. She may wish to work as a sales person in the show room/office and take clients to see houses. For this she would need to answer ads for these positions in local estate agents but they would probably ask for a minimum of 5 GCCEs at grade C - learning "on the job" is the way to this. . The best she could do at the moment would be to go on a work experience at an Estate Agent when she is in year 10 and find out for herself what is involved.

Best thing is to make an appointment at connexions (assuming your in the UK)and discuss it there, they're are the new "careers" office that we used to have!
There should also be a connexions advisor linked to the school, phone and ask.

CALL AN AGENT AND ASK FOR INFO. IT REALLY DEPENDS ON YOUR LOCATION

the losers aka estate agenst don't need qualifications....

The main thing is selling. The have places that will train you, and you have to pass a exam to become licensed. Some realtors take agents in training betting that you are going to pass the test; so they cover all cost.

I'm doing my options too.

Okay, well. Geography GCSE. On my options booklet, it says geography is good for property marketing.
Business studies.

Genrally, GCSE doesn't too much in one's career as long as she has good grades in the choices she chooses and as long as she performs well in her core subjects english, maths, science, then it opens up the choices more.

make sure she chooses subjects she enjoy and will perform well at.

Best wishes,

They choose the options in year 9 and they should get an interview with a careers adviser to ask these sort of questions. Let her choose what she wants to be, its not for you to control.

No real qualificaitons. She just needs to get licensed. Licensing requirements vary from state to state but odds are, if you look up real estate in your yellow pages, there will be a section of real estate schools. All your daughter will have to do is pay the tuition and pass the final exam.

Aside from that, the only "qualification," I could think of is not having a fraud conviction on her record.

not a good job for her .. all are crooks.. lots of stress

No formal qualifications, you just have to be a good sales person. Suggest that she trains to be a surveyor instead. [ You need maths]

Ding Dong
No academic qualifications are required. However, the ability to lie, have no ambition and use words like "enjoys" instead of "has" would be very useful to her.
