As an owner of many units, I would suggest dealing with the landlord and explain the situation. Some landlords may be willing to work with you so that you can still rent the apartment. It can't hurt to ask, or propose a way to pay the security deposit over time. I have done it for people in the past. Good luck! |

If you can't afford to put down ~$600 on a mediocre apartment, you probably shouldn't be engaged.
That's definitely one of those steps where you need to be financially secure before you end up in a significant amount of debt together.
You could try to get some sort of renters loan at a local bank; but I'd be willing to bet the interest rates on something small like that are rather substantial, and it would ultimately end up hurting you in the end.
I suggest to save up for a few months at least, and then put down a deposit somewhere. |

One or both of you should get an additional job. If you can't afford the downpayment and first months rent, you are going into the apartment behind and you'll never catch up. In other words, you can't afford the place before you even started.
Maybe once you do get settled, you could take some trade classes and make yourself more employable. |

Nope. Just save up and don't move until you have first month's last month's and a deposit equal to one month's worth of rent. |

Most programs are for single parents who can't afford an apartment on their own. Not for people who are engaged. If you can't afford a deposit, you don't need to be moving out. |

I am sorry, but if you cannot afford the deposit, you really should look further.
I know of no programs that would help you pay for it. Check with family. |

Some areas have local charities or churches that help on a one time basis. Here we have the community action network. Just ask around.
EDIT: While I apreciate bpl's answer the reality is that MOST landlords will NOT work with you. If you do not have full deposit at move in then you do NOT move in. |
