I live in Texas. I got this shocking letter telling me that my home will be bull dozed because the land on which it stands isn't mine. But I payed for the land too, and I'm paying all my taxes. I contacted a lot of people and they said there is nothing they can do.

Wow it's amazing how in THIS country this is illegal, and it surprises me to see so much outrage from the readers. Of course it's illegal, I agree. But my friend in palestine lost her house, even though her parents paid for it and the land that its built on. But it will be bull dozed, by ISRAEILIS... people from ANOTHER FREAKIN country.
Everyone time palestinians complain, nobody stands up for their rights but support israel in all the atrocities they commit. |

You should have a copy of the deed for the land. If not, check with your county offices to see exactly who owns the land. |

Who is this company making this outrageous claim? What does the taxing authority for your county say about who owns it? What does your deed say?
You can put a stop to it just by filing a TRO at the local county court. I don't know who "a lot of people" are but I can only say that either they aren't lawyers, they aren't competent or they don't care (unless you pay them lots of money).
You cannot be deprived of property without due process of law. Period, end of statement. |

When you bought the land, did you use an attorney? Was a title search done? If yes, ask the attorney how to make the title insurance work. |

You dont say how long you have lived in your house.
No one can bulldoze your house without a court order. Call a real estate attorney, preferably the own that represented you at closing. |

Call a lawyer today.
Did you get a title policy when you bought the property? If so, it should be spelled on there what you actually own. If the land is included, you may be covered. It's possible you could lose the land, but you would be compensated by the title company if you have that coverage. Does your legal description include the land...this is an oddity with Texas, in that some places you may "own" the land but not the mineral rights or something like that. Maybe other places do that but I've never run into it outside TX.
You must get a lawyer if you want to protect your home. |

If you do not have a warranty deed for the land and another person does, your only choices are, move and watch the house be destroyed or move the house to another location. |

Call the people that sent you the letter. Do you have proof that you own both the house and the property it stands on? Make copies of it and get a lawyer. |

if i were you i would build a fort around the house and set explosives everywhere so when they come to tear down the house it will make it a lot harder for them to get to, the only problem is i would have no idea how to do that |

It has all been said - Deeds and Title insurance.
"What have I done to deserve this" ...well you may not have acutally bought the land, you may have been misrepresented during the sale, you may have just been completely screwed because you did not understand the process.
Either it is a scam or you did not look out for yourself properly during the sale.
Not that what they did was right by bulldozing, but I just looked it up and Palestine is not a country, at least not yet. |
