Carol | My hubby jus turned 60,he may be made redundant,i have apregnant daughterat home,is she liable for the rent? |
my daughter will fin work the end of feb an start maternity leave Additional Details to clarify, the property is rented,if my hubby has to claim income support for the 2 of us and my daughter is living at home i was led to believe by others that she might be made responsible due to the fact that she would be the only person with a substantial income.the house is in my name |

If you intend claiming LHA (used to be housing benefit) you will have to declare everyone living at the property so your daughters income would probably be used in the calculation to decide how much you can claim. |

Ram your head into the wall a few times and then come back here and see if you can write a question that makes even the slightest sense. |

I assume you mean morally liable for rent? In which case I think yes, she is. She should give you an agreed amount of her maternity pay, 25% I should think reasonable.
Further, if your partner is being made redundant and you are going to struggle financially I'm sure your daughter would be only too happy to help. |

Not sure where you're coming from with this..... the person(s) liable for the rent on a property are those named on the rental agreement |

She should be paying her way , and she will be on full pay for a reasonable period when she starts maternity leave from memory I think 6 months then it reduces . Whatever your own circumstances may be or become she needs to be contributing . If she is old enough to get pregnant she is old enough to pay her wat !! |

The person or persons on the tennancy agreement is responsible for the rent not your daughter unless it's her place |
|

Only if she is named as a tenant or on the mortgage.
You don't say if renting or mortgaged, so it's hard to know how to answer....
If you mean should she contribute to the household income, bloody right she should.
Edit: In that case you need to declare that she is living there and her circumstances. Being soft on her is what we want to do as mothers, but it wont help her in the long run to learn to look after herself, make her pay the goign rate. One colleague had his daughter come home again and mad eher pay rent, he kept half of it to one side and when she left gave it back to her as a surprise to help her set up on her own. |

Whoever has the tenancy agreement is liable to pay the rent. Who you share your house with & their contribution towards any bills is up to you. |
