Alright charter is cable sorry... He is a really big internet freak... My husband works a decent job making 12 an hour working a little over overtime... I work fast food not even part time plus im a full time student. The friend works currently full time dont know how much he makes, i think a little less then my husband but recieves 600 a month from the government... |

Of course your friend thinks it should be thirds.
It is a two bedroom; you and husband in one room and he is the 2nd room. The common areas are shared equal.
I strongly suggest that the RENT is split 50/50. Especially if there are 2 full baths.
The monthly expenses should be divided 3 ways. Unless the renter uses extras.
GET A WRITTEN AGREEMENT. If the phone, etc is in your name, get a deposit. |

It actually depends on if all three of you are working or not. When I was single I lived with a couple and we split in half's though I felt it should have been thirds because we all three worked, but it was their home so I didn't have much say if I wanted somewhere to stay. I did move out as soon as humanly possible because I felt it was unfair to be halved when all three of us worked. |

If everybody is employed, then the best method would be to split it in 3rds. Think of it this way, there are going to be three people in the apartment. Half of three is 1.5. Why should your husbands friend have to pay for 1.5 people when he is just one person? |

If this person moving in is the 3rd person to live there then the only the only ethical choice is to split it 3 ways!!! It's not fair to split it in half cause that means your husband's friend will be paying for half of your share. |

Thirds seems fair.
He is only using a third of the space and bills.
I know we are all friends now, but it probably wouldn't hurt to get the friend's obligation to this in writing for down the road. |
