before you jump and start notifying all these "legal" people, let me ask you a question. What state are you in? Right now it is summer time in the majority of the states and no heat is needed. If the landlord controls the heat, then maybe it is not time for the heat. Legally, it has to be a certain degree outside in order for the heat to HAVE to be on.
So before you jump all over the landlord, find out if its time for the heating to be on. He is not going to turn it on for one person if you are in a complex. My heat does not get turned on unless it is below 45-50 degrees and stays there. If its 70-80 during the day and gets to 45-50 at nite, there is no need for the heat. Get yourself a little electric heater for the kids room in the meantime. It is summer time and still not the time for heat unless you live in Alaska or somewhere similar. |

You can report this to the city. Call them and ask them what you can do in this case. If you pay your rent, you have your rights!

Hi,
I'm sorry to hear that your Landlord has done this. Call your local Health Dept. They will give him a short amount of time to fix the problem. This will probably the quickest way to get it resolved. |

Call the Health Department. In most states it's illegal to rent a unit without a permanent heat source that is in working order. |

It's your landlord's responsibility to see to stuff like that. If he's not, he's endangering you and your children. Go to the authorities in the area, and see what they can do. |

I think you need to call the police or something. What you are doing is endangering ur children. I don't know where u live, but the weather is getting cold now. So do it for your children and urself. Good luck. |

Tell him in writing that if he doesn't fix it tomorrow, you're calling the repair company yourself and deducting the expenses from your rent.
That's your legal right. I'd also report him, he has a legal obligation to fix this. |
