In California, they cannot force you to leave. They also have to give you 24 hours notice prior to entering as well. They also need to get your permission to put a lock box on the home. Also, a lease is a legal document giving you an interest in the property. The new owner cannot make you leave either and must honor the lease or bribe you to leave unless it states in your lease that the lease is no longer valid upon the sale or transfer of ownership.
The next time that real estate agent tells you to leave, just reply "So if my valuables are stolen, are you going to be responsible? Can I get that in writing?". Although rare, it does happen. Some thieves even leave a window unlocked so that they can return later.
What I do, even when the owner and tenants don't get along, is that I sit with the tenant and try to negotiate the days and times in which I can show the property. For the days I want one of my agents to do an open house, I give the tenant a gift certificate to the local place of interest. Agents and land lords need to understand that just by talking to their tenants like a human, can get you pretty far.

You don't have to leave the house, but you do have to let them show it. If they do sell it, they will have to give you 30 days notice as well. |

As others have said, you cannot be forced to leave. In addition, my guess is that your state's laws require the landlord to give you advance notice whenever he needs to enter the house.
What I would do is suggest to the landlord that you will be glad to leave whenever the realtor wants to show the house, provided you know in advance, AND that you receive a $30 (or whatever amount you think is fair) reduction in rent for each time the realtor shows the house. |

realters dont want tenants or owners in the houses they are showing because they want to control the flow of info.if a tenant is unhappy about the house or landlord they can sour the deal,but there is no law requiring you to leave.it is however courteous to not be there |

Our son is going through the same thing I will wait and see what advice you get then go from there.
I was always under the impression that a person has at least 30 days to find another place to live.
Let's see what someone says about that..
I think they can ask you to leave but you legally need time to relocate |

If you screw up the sell of the home, he could think of ways to evict you. It is better to cooperate and be gone. Contrary to popular belief, it is not YOUR home. It belongs to your landlord to with what he wishes. |

You do not have to leave.
When I sold my house, I was living in it and I chose to leave because I wanted the people to be able to talk to each other openly. However, you are renting, they can talk freely in front of you. |

They cant make you leave with out a notice. They can make you leave since it is their property but they have to give you I think at least 30 days. You dont have to let him show the house either since you are still occupying it. |
