Wow there's a lot of people on here tonight with MASSIVE chips on their shoulders!

I pay £1000 per month in rent and have done so for 2 years, I am the model tenant and he has never had any problems from me. He assured me when I took the tenancy on that it would be long term (5 years or more). If I had known that he wanted to sell after 2 years I would never have moved in. So I'm sorry guys, but he is going to get what's coming. Oh, AND I've got 5 months left on my contract to try and "persuade" him otherwise. So fly THAT up the flagpole.

Just tell them the neighbours are from hell, and the teenagers are a nightmare, that should put them off . lol

DON't. You'll be found out, and that is a BREACH of your lease terms, and you'll be evicted. And then you'll have trouble renting another place or later buying with that on your credit.

]You could ask your landlord about an installment contract for deed, or rent to buy deal to purchase the home if you want it, and could swing that.

Its not your house. He may do as he pleases.

Ed
Sorry to tell you this, but his house is worth more to him with you gone, and he can evict you easily, either nicely by giving you notice, or nastily by getting an eviction order (which he is certain to be granted)

Just accept it and move on.

Real Estate Guy
IF he was smart, he would give you the 30 day notice and get you out. I promise that the first time you f*** around with him, he will. And if it was me, I would make getting your deposit back a living hell.

And if I could prove that you made the deal go south, I would sue you for damages.

Get a life and move on.

Cee
Sorry hun not a lot you can do, unless he's breaking any part of the contract, it is his property and he can and will do what he wants. Plus the fact if he found out you had done something you would probably be out quicker than you expect.

des
i wouldnt worry the market is that slow it would take forever to sell

chris s
That would by very unethical. You should be happy your land lord notified you in advance he was going to sell your place.

brian t
Landlords will tell stories like it will be rentable for five years-- in order to get your business.

The only thing you can do to deter buyers is leave the place untidy.

When you leave consider using your deposit to pay the last months rent ( if the deposit equals one months rent ) and dont put to much effort into tidying up.

EDIT. I'm not sure that you have to put up with the hassle of potential buyers looking around. After all, YOU are paying rent. I doubt that your rental contract says " Be prepared to show buyers around if landlord wants to sell"

See the citizens advice bureau for advice on whether or not you have to have the inconvenience of showing buyers around.

Eddy T
When you rent a house to stay, you must accept the fact that the owner will want the house back sometime in the future.
So you should now be spending your time looking for another house to rent or talk to a mortgage lender in order to buy a house. With your track record in paying the rents promptly for 2 years, I think the lender may work out a way for you to buy a house. Good luck.

buy it from him then lol tc

beverley.newman1@btinternet.com
No matter what you do, if a buyer wants the house he will buy it regardless.I have just bought a house that is filthy, smelly, dark and dismal and the tenant in it is being as awkward as hell (has now been given a council house) but it is where we wanted to be,is in our price range and we can always clean it up and make it lovely.

esmerelda v
See the citizens advice bureau. I have heard of people being "paid off" to move out before the contract ends.

Beware of playing tricks. The landlord might send a friend around as a "potential buyer" to check out if this is going on!

Playing tricks could be seen as a breech of contract, so please be careful.

The worst you can legitimately do is leave the place really untidy. Even then he can ask you to tidy up. Dont tell lies about the noisy neighbours etc-- it will probably get back to the landlord.

The longer you drag it out the more viewings you are going to have to put up with. If you want a straight answer to your question, make the house messy, smell, and tell them how bad the neighbourhood is when they visit!

Spray water along the top of the ceiling in the room underneath the bathroom - it'll look like a leak, which can be expensive to fix.

Patch
Grab a pen and draw some cracks in the top corners and ceiling of the rooms around your house

sweetie
don't bother just except it and move on, spend the time you have left to rent some where else that your be happy with x

All the ones I can think of would be unpleasant for you too.......fish in the curtain hems, ants in the kitchen, grow mould everywhere.......and a bit tricky as the landlord will probably accompany the viewers. You may have to look for somewhere else I'm afraid.......
