My landlord wants to sell the apartment I rent.?
I live in MA. and pay my rent on time. My landlord wants me to move so he can sell the property. I'm waiting to hear from housing to get an affordable place and currently am unemployed as I was laid off earlier in December. Can my landlord make me move?

Yes, but he has to give you 30 days to do so.

if you always pay the rent on time, ask about buying the land from your landlord, get a loan from the bank.

Yes he can! But you need at least 30 days to get a new place, it's the law!

I would think so, it is his property. He may be close to losing it for all you know, so move with notice like this is totally better than a big, hurry move I lost the building and thier bulldozing it or something.
You might try asking for some deposits back to help you move out, since your out of work, I doubt they will give them but it doesnt hurt to try. Id start looking right away. I would let housing know that you are be moved out though and maybe they will push your application faster if they can. You also better get any kind of job you can or noone will rent to you, that is what I would bring up to the landlord and see what his take is on it. He may let you stay longer to get in better shape to move. Assure him you will clean the place and remove everything so that he has no suprises when he takes possession.

Yes he can. It's still his property. Read your lease, it'll tell you how many days notice your landlord needs to give you. It's usually like 60 days or something. Everything you will need is in your lease, and if you think he is doing something that doesn't go along with the lease, maybe you should have a lawyer look at it.

Good luck with everything! I was laid off too, I kno what you're going through!!

3 months after my premature daughter was born, my landlord sold our place. We had a month to be out. It is his place and i dont think he needs your approval to sell it. As fair and unjust as this is, it can happen. Looking back, he was actually the best one we ever had, despite that.

I would think if your lease isn't up that he can't make you....

If you have a lease and your rent is paid he cannot do jack. If he is intimidating you you could actually sue him. Keep paying your rent and you will be fine as long as you are still under a lease.
