My real estate agent is a slimebag ~ Now what?
What should you expect from a realestate agent?
I moved 3 months ago and haven't heard anything from them. Should they be contacting me? or only when the house sells?

This is so frustrating...

As a realtor, I would expect to offer superior service and regular communication - that is what you, the customer, are paying for.

You need to establish with your realtor what your expectations are - right up front, and certainly NOW, since 3 months have passed.

Do you want to be called or emailed? Weekly or monthly? After each showing or Open House with feedback or just when the house sells?

Selling your home should not be frustrating. You hired a professional - and since this realtor does not seem to understand your needs, make them clear right now.

If there is no improvement, call the broker and explain the situation. The broker can also reassign you to another realtor who will take better care of you, because the contract is with the BROKER, not the individual agent.

If you want out of the listing agreement, check the termination language. There may be a termination fee involved, but if the broker can not settle this to your satisfaction, ask the broker to waive the fee.

At the very least, you need someone to sit down with you and examine why the house has not sold yet, and where to go from here. In today's market, changes happen daily, and so your realtor must stay on top of this and communicate it to you, too.

Good luck and best wishes.

I contact each seller at least once a week. This 3 month business is unacceptable. Fire them and get a new one. Even with no activity they should be calling to make suggestions on what to do.

it's a two way comunicay, do call at least once a week... and plus it's a buyer's market now... not so easy to sell your home unless you have priced it below market value... good luck

Get a new agent, all you have to do in most states is cacnel the listing in writing. If they are not prfessional enouugh to communicate, then they have no interest in helping you, they are just HOPING your house sells

I would think he or she would keep in some sort of contact. But, They really dont have to untill the house sells.
I would not renew my contract when and if its up.

If your are in your new home, what business is left to do?

Often an agent will leave you a lone after a while and let you get settled in.

Good agents will put you on their mailing list & keep you up to date with home values & market changes.

I'm a Realtor & I usually wait about a month and then pop by for a visit and check to see how things are going. If there is no business left, then most agents will maintain a "business friendship". They may not curl up with you and eat ice cream late at night, but they should at least stay in touch!

If you are still looking for a home, FIRE YOUR AGENT & ask friends for family for a better one! They will steer you to someone that maybe a little more eager for your business.

You have your house listed with an agent and haven't heard from them in 3 months? Contact the Broker and tell them you either want a good agent (one with CRS or GRI designation) and 10+ years of experience or you want to cancel your listing.

I stay in touch by phone or email with all of my clients weekly.! No if ands or buts!

Relist the house with a new agent. There are many good ones out there.

Think about it... Is your real Estate Agent a slim bag because they haven't called you every day or because your house hasn't sold in todays tough market?

iceman
Simple.. if you dont have a contract with them.. fire their pathetic butt.

If you do have a contract with them ( which by the way is very foolish to sign with a realtor) , call up their boss and tell them everything that has happend and that you want a new realtor or out of the contract. Tell them you have a lawyer ready if they give you any trouble.

UNACCEPTABLE! I agree with the other answers on communication. It is plain obvious that this Realtor is not doing what they need to do to sell your home. It is not to your benefit or theirs. All that is happening is that you are losing valuable time. There may be other problems with your listing besides your Realtor. It may be overpriced. ?? Even so, your Realtor should be consulting you and keeping in touch with you to come up with ideas on how to get your home sold.

I would call them and explain your frustrations. If they have no acceptable answers, then ask them to cancel your listing contract and then you can and should find a different Realtor with a track record. Interview at least 3. By the way, RE/MAX rocks!
