There are a couple ways to break your lease even before it is up.

They could always find someone that meets the requirements of the apartment; ex: credit and background check. Once they find someone they can legally remove their names from the lease and the person who takes over will live there until the lease is up.

They also could give notice to move out; at least by the 10th of the month; most companies allow a 20-30 days notice to vacate. They would be responsible for the unit each day and month until it was re-rented to a new tenant.

Contact the Tenants Union in their area to get info on their rights as a tenant.

Usually if you break your lease you pay extra and don't get your deposit back. Every place is different look at their lease.

She needs to talk to her apartment manager. We have bought our way out of two leases, but unless you're willing to do that, it will leave a horrible mark on your rental history.

most landlord will let people break there lease if given a good reason like need more room, to far from work, etc talk with the landlord first he may have someone looking for a place

read the lease there might be a escape clause.

plus tell the manager with enough notice and maybe something could be worked out...

if she is on a lease she would be liable for the rent until the lease is up. I would tell her to wait. when will her lease be up? Is she buying a house or something?

Generally you can't do that without paying off the total amount of the lease. There may be some exceptions for military or government employees but any exceptions would be spelled out in lease. It might be worthwhile to talk to the manager of the apartment and just ask them, there is nothing to hide here. What they don't want to do is just leave and hope it all goes away because it won't and their credit will get destroyed by avoiding payment. If there is no emergency, they will most likely be better off to stick it out, and take advantage of the time to save some money to make the move easier when it does happen. Look into the possibilities though, talk to the apartment manager.

People break there leases all the time. It isn't a big deal any more. Most lanlords don't even care these days, especially if you say you will advertise and try to find someone to take their place.

It depends on the lease and why she's moving. She would have to read the details there. Most require either a 60-day notice or 2 months rent to break a lease. Some will require that you pay the balance of the lease. Some will let you find someone to take over the lease and won't charge you anything.

Good luck!
