My tenant requested getting a small pug or yorkie dog what limit in weight and extra deposit should I charge?

I'm only answering this as a former temporary renter. In the process of relocating, we were forced to rent while looking for a home to purchase. Let me tell you how hard that is with 3 dogs!

We had a very hard time finding a property that would accept dogs, and had to pay $1000.00 deposit on a fully tiled (no carpet) home, $300.00 of which was non-refundable.

Please consider being reasonable with your deposit requests, and please consider making the entire deposit refundable.

nothing, come on. your not like that. Just makes sure that the place stays clean, and smells good. Say that if it get out of hand, she will have to remove the dog. But don`t charge more, that is just mean.

in my experience, pet deposits for small animals are usually $300. it also depends on the type of flooring that you have, if it could require more repair or less. you are the owner so its up to you!

You should deny the request. Unless it is a house. You are in for a big mess. Other tent ants will be affected by the dog. Please be aware that once other tenants see this renter with a dog they will start to want one themselves. Your property will start to deteriorate.

A pub or a yorkie will stay well under 30 lbs. I would say a 25 lb limit should suffice. Also, if you charge a deposit, it should be the amount it's going to take you to get the carpet in the rental clean after the tenant leaves - and possibly replace the carpet in some areas. I would suggest a $300 deposit.

Pugs and Yorkies are really small, fairly harmless dogs. So you shoudl be alright with that.

Most apartments I have seen has a 25lbs weight limit. The pet deposit varies. My current apartment made us pay the same amount as the rent plus ten bucks a month for cats. What I have seen most people require a 250 dollar deposit plus like 10 bucks a month on the rent.

In my properties, I charge $600: 200 of it is non-refundable. The dog must stay downstairs where there is no carpet and be under 10 lbs.

KD
I had to pay $250, I don't know what determines the deposit. My rent was $750 and that was the pet deposit.

I would set a 15 lb limit. Extra deposit I would charge would be 250.00.
hope this helps

Either one would be probably 15 lbs or under. The apartment where I lived charged an extra 1/2 month's rent in addition to the secuirty deposit.
