i got a note on my door the other day saying that my house is n default so it will sell on the 15 of jan. My landloard is telling me he saved the house but everyone ealse is saying that he didnt or they would not have left this notice on my door. Who do i belive? He wants me to pay my rent and i told him no. The notice is from his lending co. Should i pay him or has he lost his house? Additional Details i did check with the lender that left the notice and they told me he has not stoped anything and has not payed anything on the house since 3-15-2007 |

That note should be from the county recorder. Call them to find out if the sherrif's sale has been scheduled. |

As a renter you have certain rights and depending upon what state your in, they cannot force you out of the house. I would contact the lender directly and see if they will tell you anything. You can also contact your local city admin offices. |

There should be a number of the Lending Company on the notice. I would call them for instructions before giving your landlord any money.

NO. I would not pay him till you have facts on paper saying that the house is still his. He is probably just trying to get some money. There should be a phone # on the default list. call and ask. Good luck sorry to hear. |

No way should you pay him. You more than likely going to have to move. Keeping that in mind you can call a public attorney and find out if you have any legal rights. Good Luck this always sucks. |

Get the heck out of that house and do not pay any more rent. Pay Dec rent if you have not done so yet, but do not pay Jan rent and depending on when your contract is up, you may be able to take him to small claims and get him to pay for your moving costs and if you leave it clean and in good condition you may even be able to get your deposit back. If you want to take him to small claims I would pay the current manager half of the rent due for Jan so that if you do take him to court you can show that you were up to date on your rent until the day the complex was sold, which would benefit you in court.
